Eminent E-Centre 2 as a remote off HC2!

menno26

Question

Today I moved all my modules to the HC2 and added the E-centre 2 from Eminent as a secondary controller. Because the E-Centre has a nice touchscreen it is very useful to have in the living room.

Adding was simple, just put HC2 in adding mode and then putting the E-Centre in learning mode. All the modules from the HC2 were copied to the E-centre so they could be operated there as well. Also scene building works fine.

Only downside is that you can't use the multi command class modules. That was the reason for my to buy a HC2 as well...

Will do some more testing in the coming weeks...

  • Jep! The Eminent is added as a remote control.

During configuration all devices are copied to the ecentre.

All functions are there except adding new modules... You have to do that with the primary controller. I forgot to delete all scenes in the ecentre, after adding the ecentre to the hc2 all devices are unknown to the ecentre. You have to give them names and locations first. If you remember the names, Ill guess that the old scenes work. If not, you have to rebuild them like I did. Off course you can also rebuild them in the hc2...

Only devices that are compatible will show in the ecentre, I guess virtual don't...

Scenes are also not synced between hc2 and ecentre...

    Hi there,

I have also tried to link the E-centre of Eminent to my HC2 fiabro controller. But do not get it to work. You mentioned that you should put the e-centre in 'learning' mode. I failed to do so. I acted like I wanted to add a device to the E-centre controller, but the Fibaro controller does not see the device and will not add the e-centre. Can you be a bit more specific in how to enter the learning mode on the e-centre?

    regards

    Walter

  • Hi Walter60,

You should put the HC2 in learning mode, and add the e-centre as an secondary controller. This can be done in the config page of the e-centre (/config/ in my case 192.168.1.10/config/ ) when you scroll down to the bottom of this page you should see the button "Leermode starten" or "start learning mode".

The downside of this function is that you have to start the learning mode every time when you added a new device to the HC2 if you want it to control it from the e-centre. If not, you can leave the e-centre alone.

When learning is complete, you have to rename every device again. Devices that are not supported are shown in the ecentre but you cant control them, only eminent compatible devices. For me that's enough, I only switch on the living room lights with the e-centre, which is a bit of a expensive remote control, but anyway....
