Hi

So I don't make this mistake again, can anyone advise me what I did wrong:

Original setup: 5 lamp chandelier with 7w energy saving bulbs, fibaro dimmer and dimmer bypass.

Swapped bulbs for 5 of 5w LED dimmable bulbs - RCD tripped on the electrical circuit and when I flipped it back on, there was a nasty crackling noise and, on inspection, the dimmer stank of burnt electrics and had a small bulge in the side.

I thought the dimmer was supposed to work with these bulbs, which makes me think I should have re-configured the dimmer before swapping the bulbs over. Any ideas?

There are several types if dimming technique's, you need to make sure the LED bulbs are compatible with your dimmer... It is a big frustration... If your bulb does not support the right dimming technique then your dimmer will...

Here is my answer for sim. question:

So long this is NO standard for the "dimmable LED" light sources the best advice will be make a test (use of the Fibaro Bypass and use of the "3-wire connection" can also help in many cases). Also try to select in first place the "dimmable LEDs" that advertising as "Triac (leading edge dimming mode) compatible".
