Some questions about firmware update of FIBARO modules. I think only FIBARO can answere this questions, i hope they will do ...

As we all (who can read Fibaros web page

Please login or register to see this image.

/emoticons/default_icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" /> ) know , the firmware of the FIBARO Door/Window sensor can be updated wireless . I think this is a great feature - and secure the invest in this sensor. As a reseller i have a good (unique) argument to customers to buy this sensor.

But what is with the new FIBARO wall plug ? Is there also a wireless update possible ? BTW FIBARO, i love this product, great design and function. I hope you are working on a dimmer module which looks like the wall plug.

And what is about a firmwareupdate of the "in-wall" FIBARO switch and dimmer modules like the FGD-211 and the FGS-221 / 211 ?

Maybe today there is no update needed, but maybe in future ? I hope i am not the only one who is interested in the answeres ...

    Dear A.Socha,

Could you please explain for all users how to upgrade practically (from what menu/panal, tool and etc.)?

As far as I know You are not able to do it right now. I think Fibaro will have to add this function to Home Center software. But maybe I am wrong...

I have 2 door/window sensors FGK101 with firmware version 2.1 and after more then 2 years they are still not updated automatically by my HCL.

They wake-up at to many random times a day to report temp changes so they drain batteries.

The other 4 door/window sensors, witch I bought this year, are running version 2.5. They have the exact same settings as the v2.1's and they behave exactly according to the settings. (so batteries last longer)

I want to fix this by updating the v2.1 version to v2.5 on both FGK101 sensors manually because Fibaro HCL won't do this as it should.

How can I manually force this upgrade?

i don't think the window/door sensor can handle ota (over the air) updates

if not, you have to sell them and buy new ones and hope the new ones have the last firmware

    Thanks for your reply, Akatar.

Does this mean Fibaro sell's crappy 2.1 sensors with firmware bugs (because bugs is what they are) and there is no way to fix this? (other then buy new ones, probably they will have new bugs...)

If so, I think this is not acceptable for these expensive sensors.

But, I'm afraid that I'm a bit confused now.

Because I read about the ability to upgrade door/window sensors, from version 2.1 and on, at several websites. Also Fibaro mentioned this.

Here's one reaction from a person how experienced this existing feature :

The FGK-101 v2.1 and later have the ABILITY to do OTA upgrades, but HC2 and HCL software <= 4.100 don't yet contain a firmware image for these devices. The latest HC2 firmware does contain device firmware updates, for instance, for the "Dimmer 2". So the OTA upgrade possibility is a theoretical one, at the moment. It's my personal opinion that this "possibility" is still better than having no upgrade possibility at all... But the net result is still that, although you can buy a FGK-101 v2.5, you can't upgrade your v2.1 to that newer firmware. BTW Fibaro does not discuss their release schedule, ever...

    Hello,

At the moment, the update is not available. Only way to get FGK with software version 2.5 is to buy one.

However, if you encounter issues with the device and believe that it is malfunctioning you should contact our Support at [email protected]

I believe that you use FGK with DS18B20, do you? What value do you have in parameter 12? What wake-up interval did you set?

    Hi T.Konopka,

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I do use all of them with DS18B20 temp sensors.

Please see attached file with Temp log results for one day. As you can see, 2 out of 4 sensors have v2.1 firmware and they behave different from the FGK101's with v2.5.

    All FGK101 settings are exactly the same and are as follows;

    - wake-up interval = 21600 (i.e. report every 6 hours)

-parameter 12 = 0.5C (i.e. report when temp reading is going 0.5C up or down )

As you can see in the attached Temp log file, FGK101's with v2.1 are reporting more often and at random times and also with very little Temp changes.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

We thoroughly tested the device trying to reproduce what you reported. Unfortunately, we were not able to reproduce this.

Did you try to reconfigure the device?

You may as well change the parameter and wake up interval to any value and then change it back to desired one.
