Home Center Lite!

Question

Posted

Found this thread at a Swedish forum with pictures on a new Fibaro controller called Home Center Lite - pictures taken at a exhibition in Gothenburg this weekend called New Tech '13

Please login or register to see this link.

Good that more people would be able to buy home automation systems - but the problem to me is not to buy a cheap controller, but to get the features and devices we want to connect to each other to work. I spent thousands of euro's on additional devices and lights - so the controller is not the major investment according to me - I just want it to work...

Agree with you, but could be useful to extend z-Wave signal for big house.

Shad - your customers would still need to buy the more expensive Fibaro modules to have everything play good which is my point that Fibaro could spend a bit more effort in making devices we request here on the forums to work. I would even pay a monthly support fee or similar to realise that.

the back also has some specific mounting things. So probably to be able to hang it on a wall or so...

I hope it's just a prototype, it looks worse than bad, this sticker. The only plus is that it actually is the size of a larger pack of cigarettes. Design evidently to improve immediately

    Here is my guess...

I think they are building a cloud based home automation system like some of the competitors are doing. The box is more or less a router that you can configure over the internet but will functional locally when configured.

The site will be shared between the devices with the only difference that this box requires internet to be configured meanwhile the HC2 can be configured locally.

    Any other ideas?

And also this should be compatible with HC2 to work as slave gateway

@KristianO, It's all guess work of course, but I'm really hoping that it's not based on a cloud for configuring the thing. I have this experience with another controller first hand and it wasn't a positive one...
