GPS on Android Phone with beta 1.2

Question

Posted

Hi all

Does the GPS is suppose working on Android phone (Galaxy S3) with beta 1.2 ?

If yes, how can I test it ?

I have created a scene triggerring by the GPS for admin but nothing happen (I should receive a email when I arrive at home).

To test it, I run the GPS on my phone then I run the app on my phone, but I don't receive anything

Is there something wrong in what I did ?

thanks

David

Andrew, is there a way that the IPhone or Android user can choose on the Phone if the GPS Data will be saved? Because I don't want to see where me or my partner has been on a certain time... I trust her and like to give her some privacy

deanrparry, that working... so new ticket on bugzilla will not help

    Quikdav, 123aanthony, do that

    1. if you use hc2 toolkit check for that user do you got tracking on 1 if not set it

    2. connect you android phone with version 1.2!!! to hc2 with data for that user

    3. if you got 1min wait 5min and check do you got family panel or hasgps on true if not go to phone ->fibaro app -> configuration and move gps precision to 30m and wait again

Ok it works for me now but I must apologize because my version installed on my phone was 1.1. I checked it this morning

I have I doubt on the update. Maybe I'm confused with the update of the app on my tablet. I will check tonight my tablet because I updated one of them so I would be sure the update works well... Maybe it's more reliable to uninstall version 1.1 in order to install version 1.2

On my my phone, I uninstalled the app to install the new one

So I have the Family tab now... I will run more tests now

Link from your beta 1.2 so yes 100%... Note! It DID work but not anymore!

Check that you really have version 1.2 on your phone from the "Application Manager" of your phone. I was sure to update to version 1.2 but it was not the case. I was in 1.1 but now with the update it works immediatly

deanrparry, have you fully uninstalled the previous version of the App (including user's data) before installing v1.2beta, or have you only "upgraded" the App ? On my Galaxy S4, if I only "upgrade" by launching the APK without first uninstalling the previous version and the user's data, I have GPS issue.

Then, do you use remote or local access ? On my S4, If I'm connected with remote access, it happens that sometime the GPS position is not uploaded. (timeout issue ?)

Maybe a suggestion to check if GPS is working:

Make a new virtualdevice with this code:

Please login or register to see this code.

and click on the debug button.

On your Android phone install the 'Fake GPS' app. You can fake GPS location with it and see of it reports it back to the HC2 debug Window.

i debugged both my phone and my wifes and the latitude and longitude of my wifes moves SLIGHTLY! mine is constantly the same on TWO devices!!!

yes fake gps does not change location! that admin account seems to be in poland somewhere i can only assume they made a mistake somewhere!

    Lambik you use admin account?

    [ Added: 2013-11-30, 20:28 ]

And the reason i get no updates is simply because whatever i am locked to NEVER moves!

    [ Added: 2013-11-30, 20:33 ]

ok created another account and now it works... why oh why did it work and then stop? and why the hell is the location for my admin account set to poland???????

What do you mean with Fake GPS does not change location?

If you set a fake location your Android has been enabled to do this. Look for Settings -> Applications -> Development --> enable mock location setting.

I use the HC2 admin account with setting:

    Shall Fibaro send notifications? [enabled]

How frequently GPS position from the user’s iPhone should be collected [15 mins]

Also you have to remove previous fibaro apps settings. On your Android device, before removing the app, click on the 'Clear Data' or/and 'Clear Cache'. After that you can download and install the app from android.fibaro.com (ver 1.2 beta). You need to have the Android settings:

    Tap the Menu button.

    Tap Settings.

    Tap Applications.

If the check box for Unknown Sources is unchecked, check it.

When installing the new app, your credentials must be entered again. You also need an home.fibaro.com account to get all this working.

Exactly the same phone... i FIRMLY believe it has something to do with remote access or something along those lines when a dev has hooked up to my hc2 and potentially tested something using a phone or a gps enabled device? speaking out loud here!!! but what else can it be!!! is Fibaro located at the address i stated?

I tried it on an other Android Phone and got a long time no position. When I changed the accuracy option from 15 mtr to 10 I got an update from the right position.

It's a long shot but worth trying?
