I already have 2 danfoss valves that work fine but I also wanted to try the StellaZ valves (

) because they have an sensor that reports the ambient temperature. So I bought a few of these StellaZ valves and started playing around.

I've managed to include the valves in HC2. They are properly recognized as an thermostat. So far so good.

The problem is that the temperature sensor isn't showing up as a device. Which means I can't use it in the linked devices and the rooms setup. Which beat the whole unique selling point of these valves.

Anyone managed to get these valves working properly?

And could someone from fibaro give an indication when these valves will be officially supported in HC2?

I hope soon they will get supported by Fibaro.

If you set an high temperature, does the valve then immediately fully open?

Or do they open up really slow like the Danfoss valves?

Right now the value of the valve seems to be stuck on the factory default which is 22 degrees. Changing the setpoint in HC2 doesn't seem to affect the valve at all.

But if you check the manual of the StellaZ you can find that there is a mode in which you have manual control over the valve opening.

"Direct Valve Control: This mode allows the direct control of the valve as percentage value of opening using the Z-Wave command class 'Switch Multilevel'. The regulation of a temperature within the device is de activated."

I asked fibaro support when we can expect full support for this valve and their response was "I think 2-3 months."... which is quite long if you depend on these valves to control your heating in this winter.

I also got one of these to see how useful they would be in my setup. Right now I have 7 Danfoss valves and wanted to use Stella Z in my living room as a main thermometer and controller for two other Danfoss ones.

My first impression is that the build quality for its price is just awful, my two year old managed to 'rip' the valve off the mounting which is very weak two point click.

Secondly, the temp sensor is inside of its plastic casing so the temp readout is way off, and having it next to heat source throws it even more.

I used my hardcore RazBerry setup to test Stella Z so it wouldn't compromise my HC2 main setup.

I strongly discourage using Stella Z as you will not get your money's worth with it. I know Danfoss isn't perfect either, but still both quality and usability wise the best choice.
