Danfoss living connect valves

Question

Posted

Hello,

In the fibaro documentation, it is written that Danfoss valves supports only one relay. Is it still valid ? Does it means that the valve must be directly connected to the HC controler or can support one powered device action as relay ?

The danfoss documentation says that it support fully the z-wave architecture including relays

Thanks

Thierry

Sometimes it support one powered device sometimes not. If You have big house I would recommend not to use Danfoss valves becouse You would have big troubles with their zwave range...

It's not possible, I've just posted a script here to get around that problem:

It still has some drawbacks compared to using the linked devices panel, but if you insist on multiple heating zones (which in my opinion is a must in bigger houses) this seems as a good approach to me.

    Thanks hvb83,

but I think we are not (yet) talking about the same thing : I am just at the stage where I want to connect my danfoss valves to the controler and it seems that the valves does not support z-wave relays quite well.

As soon they will be connect, if possible, I think your script will be useful

    Hello,

Current Danfoss valves support routing algorythms based only on one transmitter, so range is more limited then in the other modules.

they are tricky to get initial connection.

Try adjusting angle of antenna on HC2.

    Move HC2 slightly.

Lastly move valve body closer to HC2. Try to stay as close to install location as possible then move back to location and use update neighbour function. You will find script in power user section.

if that does not work may be too many route hops... don't think there is a fix

Sorry Thierry, I read relay and immediately thought about the electronic device, not about the number of hops to your controller. My mistake!

It probably depends on the size of your house and the way it is constructed if you will notice difficulties in practice. Mine is has 3 floors, with the HC2 on the highest floor at the back of the house and I experienced difficulties in getting a Danfoss unit on the ground flor at the front of the house included (and a Fibaro door sensor made problems in that area too...). But after that no more problems. Though I must say, I had a Danfoss in the room next to the HC2, same problems. So it also appears the valves are just a little tricky at first. Turning the units during inclusion as Robmac says does help in that case. After that I have experienced no more problems with these units.

So I guess if you place HC2 centralized in your house, you could have a much bigger house and still enjoy your Danfosses without any problems.
