Hello

Is anybody using the temperaturereadings from the DS18B20 inside the door/window sensor to control the heating of the house??

if so what settings are best suited ie parameter 12 or polling time or wake up interval

settings that can be used to emulate thermostats ( that have short cycle protection or even shut down heat pump in case of rapid drop of temperature... )

cheers

Hi,

I don't think it is a good idea.

First because the sensor is not around 1,5 meter from the ground, so you will have issue with temperature values.

Second, because you will have issue with the temperature itself, since door and windows can be a bit colder than the rest of the room... See :

On other sensor in the room (3-in-1) I get better flatness of temperature :

    Hello

    thank you for your reply

I have bought the door/window sensors but they are only acting as temperature sensors

i have put them 1.5 meter above ground in my living room at a wall and they only measure temperature... they don't act as door/window sensor....

i got them because i could not find any decent z-wave temperature controller that is

    1) good looking

    2) display temperature accurately ( eg 21.40 or 22.35 )

    3) can set temperature in relation to time ....

so i have decided that i could just have these readings from the HC2 interface

and also use scheduler to perform timed heating

only thing is that i need to know-learn is get the door/window sensor emulate better a temperature controller

    Hi Christos,

Yes I am using that. I have one Door/Window temp sensor in my bathroom, on in my living room and one in my bedroom. The ones in the living room and bathroom are only operating as temp sensors, and are stuck to the wall at around 1.50.

I am using the default settings, although I am now also considering to increasing the polling interval to get a more frequent control of some rooms to prevent over-shoot. The default settings have worked for me just find for the last year or so, so no need to be too concerned to use this.

    Hope this helps,

    Ronald
