remote access to camera

Question

Posted

Hi, searched now for one hour and cannot find the answer.

Does the camera need to be accessible from internet to work wit fibaro HOME and/or the mobile app ?

My camera (AXIS 207w) works perfectly in my local browsers (Firefox and chrome, not in IE10)

but not on my android connected to the same network (V1.3)

and not working from home.fibaro.com (accessed from local network)

any idea ?

Thanks

ok, found the problem, sorry.

It was the camera security settings denying the HC2 direct access to the cam.

The local browser was able to access, but not the mobile.

This explain that, hope it can help others to troubleshoot.

So the answer is YES, the HC2 is proxying the cam to home.fibaro

and NO, the cam do not need direct external access

I have a similar problem.

I have connected a Foscam FI9851P.

After entering the right URL (local one with login informations) I was able to see pictures and video on the webpage of HC2.

I am also able to see them via Android app with local and remote access.

But when I open the HC2 webpages via home.fibaro.com they are not shown.

The "encoded" URL that is forwared to the proxy looks right:

/newProxyLite?user=&hc=&temp=&req=/api/proxy%3Furl%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2F%3A%2Fcgi-bin%2FCGIProxy.fcgi%3Fcmd%3DsnapPicture2%26usr%3D%26pwd%3D&ts=1415286182506"

(everything in <...> looks alright)

I've reported my issue several times, but still no reply and the problem exist.

Cannot see camera image on "Your House" tab.

It shows an image for 1 second after refreshing whole page and then disappears.

I see camera stream in device details and I have a tick on "Display camera image on the main page"

almj, please make sure both MJPG and JPEG URLs are correct.

j.nowacki, Yes, I've checked urls, they are ok and work in a browser.

Only one think that helps is to Display camera image at Your House, advanced options: set to MJPG

But it is a warning: With a large number of cameras displayed at ˝Your Home˝ mjpeg streaming option can significantly slow down the network.

So I have a question, does HC2 always connected to the stream? Even when web interface is closed?

Thanks!

It does not. But when you have, let's say, 10 or more cameras feeding live at the home / devices page, it can increase traffic a lot when viewing these feeds at same time.

rantta, thank you for the answer, now I have only two, so that is a good solution to my problem.
