Virtual Interface with Global Cache GC-100 RS232

Question

Posted

Hello!

Wanted to check if someone is sitting on some experience with the Global Cache's GC-100 and control via RS232?

Im trying to control a HDMI Matrix with 8 inputs and 8 outputs.

The command to be sent is specified by the manufacturer as follows:

Switch command + Input + port number + output + port number

as an example: sw i02 o05 would then put hdmi-in source 2 to be displayed on hdmi out source 5.

This works brilliantly with iTest (see picture 1.png)

As the picture shows, I have to enter "Add CR (0D) if needed" since it is needed for it to work

I am also aware that it adds it to the HEX code.

Now over to the HC2.

Virtual device.

IP 192.168.20.17

Port 4999

Configuring the string, as follows. (See picture 2.png for button configuration with HEX format)

Here, I choose not to click the "wait for response from device" since it's already in the HEX code. - Does not work.

Test click the "wait for response from device". - Does not work.

Configuring the string, as follows. (See picture 3.png for button configuration with the manufacturer Literal formatting)

Testing without clicking in the "wait for response from device". - Does not work.

Test click the "wait for response from device". - Does not work.

Why does it work flawless every time i test with iTest but not from the HC2!?

Got a tip from another user on a different forum that had experienced this before and all he had to do was to restart his HC2 then it worked.. i tried that but no cigarr..

Any ideas at all on this would be to great help!

Thanks in advance!

Did you ever solve this? I'm having the same issue and cannot get my receiver to work. All must be down to carriage return but it's driving me nuts!

You should try with only 0x0D at the end and check the checkbox "Wait for device response".

Hi dw89, with the information posted above from my previous post. the string format i ended up with was:

swi04o010x0D with the wait for device to respond UNCHECKED.

The issue in the end of the day was that after trying and trying different formats of strings that weren't correct, it then "filled up" the HC2 with bad commands.

I had to restart the HC2, and then try with the right formated string and it worked straight off.

    You're both right.....

Basically it didn't work to start off with:

    1) I deleted Virtual Device

    2) Rebooted

    3) Created again and tried.......nothing

    4) Tried again i.e. command+0x0D WITH 'Wait for Response' and it BLOODY worked!

Thanks so so so so so much! My wife's just had a go at me for shouting the house down!

That's four days or being annoyed fixed!
