Hi everyone, I browsed the forum to see if someone already posted a question about ZWave Plus support. As this will require a chipset update, can someone from Fibaro let us know what will be the policy to get their HC2 Zwave Plus compliant ? Buying a new one ?

Many thanks

I am interested also in this information before buying an HC2

maybe a usb stick in the hs2?

maybe a usb stick in the hs2?

or just change daughter board inside fibaro HC2, since all z-wave hardware in it.

What I scared, new HC2 with new chipset and multimedia system.

I don't know if they have anticipate that... by having the ZWAVE chipset on a daughter card in the HC2 for example

They have, it is a separeta board. as the HC2 itself is just a motherboard running linux. so the chip is either serial or usb (which is serial).

So could be possible but way to difficult and will break many HC2's so don't count on it

What I could find about ZWave Plus:

With the introduction of Sigma's Next-Gen Z-Wave 500 series earlier this year, Z-Wave saw its ecosystem bolstered with new capabilities including increased range, extended battery life, Over The Air upgrading (OTA), additional RF channels and more, all of which are backwards compatible with existing Z-Wave products.

There are some nice things in there, provided the manufacturers decide to make use of them. OTA upgrade is irrelevant if there are no upgrades made

Increased range and better power efficiency is always welcome.

I fear we have to get new units, although it would be great if there is an upgrade kit made available. I don't mind the cost. We are early adopters after all.

Wy would you need new units? The 500 standard will be backwards compatible... If a new unit should appear, I would probably change my unit, but it would be written off on the gadget account, not out of necessity... And fibaro would need to prove way better stability than what HCL is showing right now. Stability is with no exception the most important parameter for a z-wave controller.
