HC2 not working after power outage

Question

Posted

I came home and the power in the area was cut off. In my NAS I could see that from the log. Though the HC2 is on an UPS, it wasn't long enough for the power company to restore power.

Now everything else in my network is working again, but as some people here have experienced already, HC2 doesn't handle a power shutdown very well while it's running. So it won't provide access to the webpanel or the app. Strange thing is though, that meanwhile the scenes do seem to work. I've already tried to reboot it using the power button on the back, took the power cord out, but that doesn't help.

With the app I'm not getting a connection, the web interface does get a connection and shows some of the buttons, but no information specific to my config is loaded. So I'm a little bit puzzled as to what's going on and hope it's nothing to do with a corrupted database or anything. Anybody got a possible solution for this?

As always with Murphy, I'll be leaving on a business trip this Sunday and don't like the idea of the wife and kid having to cope with a broken heating system...

reset and restore?

I was almost at that point. Had restarted at least 10 times, didn't solve anything. Pulled out the recovery stick, still not working. Then I put it back in, and it worked like a charm again.

So for now I've set my NAS to shut down asap in case of a power outage in order to save as much power for the HC2 as possible. Would be great if it would accept a shutdown command also...

USB recovery drive seems to be a weak spot.

+1 to USB support for UPS shutdown

Every time I need to reboot the HC2 , after the booting sequence it's very unresponsive and freezed but only on the web interface.

The Z-wave network insthead works very fast and all scenes run as expected.

Only restarting many tiimes th Hc2 it's possible to login and working on it.

    Any help / suggestion ?

Guys I have a serious problem here....

After a power outage my hc2 is not responding anymore!

After the boot sequence (the raising led sequence) all the leds are on and the HC2 is not working nor reachable via the network.

I have tryed the recovery mode, without success ("recovery file are missing on corrupted" error).

What can I do? Any suggestion very appreciated

Good luck, this remains a serious problem with HC2. As long as you don't cut power without shutting it down first my box is rock stable, but with every update I'm always a bit nervous if it will go up afterwards (although I must say updates have never been a problem).

Anyway, my problem was solved after I pulled the backup key from the back, started it (still didn't work), then powered the unit off again and inserted the key again. After that it started normal again, whereas it didn't start in any possible way the 15 times I tried before that.

Having read this I ended up connecting mine to a small UPS (basic one can power HC2 for hours! £70 well spent!). I just need to write a scene to get UPS notifications now, so I can tell it to power down on low power. Any suggestions welcome if someone has done it before?

Hmmm, might ask this in a new thread as well...

Not possible for now I'm afraid. So once your UPS is flat, the HC2 will go down anyway. Where I live the power only goes down every few years, but usually that is solved within a few hours. Still too much for my 500VA UPS. But I bought it a few years ago as a device to shut down my NAS in a safe way in case of power failure, since that can power down without any issues... :S

Does anybody know what kind of power the HC2 draws in practice?

Plug your HC2 in a Wall plug

    Hello all

I have the same problem, Fibaro Has he give you an answer ?

I had exact the same symptoms as Marbe described, and I've solved it. I saw on this forum a hint about the CMos battery, so I checked the voltage.

It was 2,8 Volts, and the CR2032 should have 3 Volts, so I assumed that it was "empty". I replaced it with a new one, measured voltage 3,3 Volts.

Bios settings were not affected when I replaced the battery. Now the HC2 boots when I remove the power and plug it in again. I had this issue for months, and now I'm a happy person. I live in an area where we have several power outages for hours and that happens a few times per year, and my UPS will not hold that long. I hope, by sharing this, that many of you can solve this now finally.
