Danfoss thermostats

Question

Posted

Hi!

I'm looking at getting some Danfoss Living Connect thermostats. But I can find lots of dealers who sell the Living Connect and then a few who sells a version called Living Connect Z. I can't find any documentation for the "Z" version, so I'm wondering if it's really just the same unit being sold by Z-wave retailers under a "Z" moniker with a higher price tag? The price difference is around 25% here in Denmark, so if I can use the standard Living Connect, I don't want to shell out another wad of cash for nothing!

Thanks for any advice!

Correct thermostat has Danfoss code: 14G0012

It is not the same thermostat. (I belive you find the required documentation on Danfoss webpage, at least they used to have it explaining the difference - basically the std only capable of working in a Danfoss Thermia net, while the Z Version can only work in a regular z-wave net

    Great, thanks for the replies...

Lauri, I've tried sending you a PM but I'm not sure it is sending, it stays in my outbox and doesn't transfer to the sentbox...

On phpBB sent messages will stay in outbox until recipient reads it.

Outbox = sent but not read

    Sentbox = sent and read

In The Netherlands there is one supplier who states that there is a new "LC13" Danfoss valve. It looks exactly the same as the other Danfoss units, but apparently it now supports explorer frames and is equipped with SDK 4.5. Supposedly it has improved network stability.

Since I haven't seen any info on this elsewhere on the internet I'm still kind of sceptical, but it might be worth to hear if others have heard anything about these new "LC13" valves. Because if it's true, then these valves should be worth it over the old Z-wave version...

Do you have any detailed information available? How will be be able to identify if it is a new or an old Z-wave valve?

The New Danfoss TRV has a different part number.

    Old part number = 014G0012

    New part number = 014G0013

We introduced the new version at the beginning of the week. First batch has arrived and will be on the Vesternet site on Monday.

Please login or register to see this link.

The main difference is that the new version uses SDK v4.5, it resolves the 'Panic' issue that we have seen with the old version. This hasn't been a big issue on HC2, but it has affected other Z-Wave controllers.

As people said earlier in this thread, these are the full Z-Wave devices and can be used with any Z-Wave controller. The other version can only be used with the Danfoss controller and can't be used with HC2 (or other controllers).

Supposedly it has improved network stability

Has anybody checked if that is so?

Is there anyone who experienced the communication problems with older model and tested the new one already?
