Control an oven with a wall plug based on a thermometer

Question

Posted

I'm trying to control an oven with a wall plug and a thermometer

I thought that I could link the thermometer and a wall plug on the oven using the linked devices panel, and then set a heating schedule for them using the heating panel.

That doesn't seem to work, and I suspect it wants me to add a thermostat.

Why would I need a thermostat when HC2 already reads the temperature and controls the wall plug?

Any ideas?

If you have configured them correctly, It should work like you want.

    Thanks for the answer!

It's good news that it should be possible, but I don't know if it's set up correctly, because there is no documentation saying what to do.

    I have the following setup:

    Heating Panel:

    - Temperatures set for all hours for all days.

Linked Devices for heating in the room:

    - Main Device: Temperature sensor (a door/window sensor)

    - Switch 1: Wall Plug on the oven

    Room:

    - Main temp sensor = same temp sensor as above

    - Main thermostat = same temp as above (automatically chosen, can't be removed)

I'm getting an error message when saving changes to the room:

"Operation could not be performed successfully and was interrupted. Error text: 'defaultThermostat: object not found'"

Me too. I've lost confidence in the system, and I'm considering the investment lost while I wait for some more serious company to come along.

Heating panel will have new functions in the next update, making it able to use more parameters including devices and heating modes.

As a side note, Can your wall plug support the electrical load of an oven?

    jonny,

It is safe to use Wall Plug with maximum constant load of 2500 Watts.

I guess you have checked the rating of your oven, but might be worth considering for others that the range is about 1kw to 5kw (as mentioned here
