Useful LUA functions

Question

I thought it would be handy with a single place to gather simple LUA functions that we use in our scripts. As we're still to se any action on the wiki front I'll start this collection off with a couple of functions I find useful.

The first one has a built in function to replace it. (see second and third post below) It can however be useful to modify to fit your need to get other info from a device or room (or other things available through the api).

  • Awesome, another example of the total lack of documentation... Can we PLEASE have some documentation of the included functions or at least a LIST. This is a serious issue that only grows bigger each day.
