Hello,

I have some problems with LED lights, they are triac dimmable (leading edge as fibaro dimmer). And There are about 250W total lights connected.

Similar lights:

They are working fine and no problems, but when dimming down the light, then there is buzzing sound coming from lights and this is disturbing. Is there anything to do to reduce this noise?

I was thing to reduce lamps from dimmer so I could install more dimmers to divide the load to ~3dimmers.

Have someone had similar issue and how had you resolve this? I have tried changing steering impulse parameter but then lights start flickering, best is standard 110.

Is it the dimmer or the bulbs which are buzzing?

If it is the dimmer, then it is because of the quality of the dimmer (the small footprint probably don't allow for proper filtering to fit in there).

If it is the bulbs, well, then it is down to the quality of their internal power supply (also triac).

All-in-all, i'm affraid there is not alot you can do to avoid besides removing the bulbs. It is a real problem with more and more led bulbs on the market that they don't really play nice with domestic dimmers.

There is something you can do.

1) Change parameter 20

For me the higher I can get it before the lights start to misbehave (flicker, strobe, not respond to being turned on or off) the less buzzing noise that is generated. My lights seem to handle up to around 140; the default for this parm is 110. For me the buzzing happens least a 100%. It increases as I dim down to 0%. In some instances as it gets to 0% the buzzing softens a little.

Unfortunately, for you it looks like changing this parm doesn't work.... so to the 2nd option.

2) Replace the Fibaro Dimmer Module

I can confirm that not all Fibaro dimmer modules are the same. I changed the worst culprit yesterday and the buzzing has been reduced significantly. The old module was so loud you could clearly hear it from 3m away. The new module is still making some noise but you have to be close to the switch to hear it.

Good luck.
