Hi guys,

I'm the designer of a project currently being developed to add new functionalities to the HC2 by creating a bridge between MikroElectronika & Gadgeteer sensors/actuators and a Fibaro RGBW module.

This project is called "SBS" as Smart Board for Sensors.

While being able to interface with almost any sensor/actuator (analog, digital, I2C, SPI, UART, ...) , the SBS will be factory configured with a dozen of preselected sensors (Thunder Lightning detector, Barometric sensor, 4-20mA transceiver, Ultrasonic range sensor, RFID reader, UV sensor, bipolar step motor controller, ...)

The main goal is to add sensors that are not usually available to non-professional home automation users, as the only configuration required on the SBS is the setting of 7 dip-switches to select the plugged sensor.

You will find on this link :

, a video of the SBS prototype used to add RFID access control to the HC2.

Let me know what you think about this project, as we are currently looking forward for some feedback to decide if we start a production of some units.

Thanks,

Nicolas F.

And here is a new video of the SBS with an ultrasonic range sensor to add volume sensing function to the HC2. A simple way to know how much water available in a ground water well, or a rain water collector.

    Fantastic idea!!

What would be the range (cable length) for the actual sensor from the board?

For example I have some external tanks (1000's of litres) which I would love to use that for but I would have to house the SBS inside the house but the sensor's in the tank?! That's about 30metres away.

Also same goes for RFID...have great ideas with HC2 soft alarm and that.

    All the best

    Dave

Hi Dave, the cable length between the sonar sensor and the SBS shall not exceed 1 meter, as it might affect the pulse length measurement. But, using a shielded twisted pair (like ethernet cable) you might be able to connect the SBS to the RGBW module with a 30m length cable.

    We have to test this.

Hi Akatar, we are testing the 3rd gen of prototype currently, and we hope to be able to have the SBS on the market by the automn this year.

Then, here's a news from MikroElectronika website presenting our project :

And here is another video of the use of the SBS as a bridge between a moisture sensor and the HC2 :

Hello, is there some (english) tutorial how to arrange this with an ultrasonic range sensor?
