Hi,

In the Configuration of the fibaro motion sensor I see:

Parameter 8

This parameter specifies lighting conditions in which PIR sensor will work. It has an effect only on the traffic reports and its related associations. Tamper, light and temperature measurement will be active regardless of the value of the parameter

The word Traffic Reports sounds interesting. Can somebody tell me where I can find this?

Thanks,

Remco

Oh, yeah .... it's all here in their glossy video on YouTube:

Pity some of the marketing budget can't be diverted into decent documentation (with some of it in English or at least with "Google-translatable" illustrations) before they post videos like these!

It'll be interesting how Fibaro manages in the US market without English language documentation!

As far as I know, fibaro is preparing to release complete documentation about their products soon.

My guess will be that two motion sensors linked as one main head counting device. It makes sense. What I am curious about is why do you need two motion sensors like in video at all?

Its not like a user will run away after entering in door or goes back or anything like that right?

You will need two to detect the direction of travel i.e. One detector (#1) in the hallway and one in the kitchen(#2). If #1 is activated before #2 then it means you are moving from the hallway to the kitchen. If #2 is activates before #1 then you are leaving the kitchen. That way it can add or subtract from the kitchen headcount. But it is a silly and useless factor and there is way too much uncertainty related to this method of operation. What if two people pass in the doorway? Will it add or subtract one from the room count? And what if someone walks in to the room and quickly walks out again? The detector has a timeout of 10 sec after each activation, so it won't detect that you are leaving again. The only reliable way to keep track of room count is by using a camera with face reckognition and then get that to keep headcount. But that can easily be fooled by pictures on the wall or limited field of vision.

So motion detectors should be used for motion detection, not head count or anything else, cause it will never work reliably.

Amen! Completely agreed. Headcount and even I noticed in fibaro ipad app "users in the house" these are making me very curious if they have heat signature detection goodie shipped inside motion sensor or what.

Then there's this fibaro intercom app. Anybody got any idea how this works and what hardware will you need.
