android and ios app usability topic

Question

hi

i would like to gather some very basic usability points here that everyone has encountered. I use the ios app daily and there are some not so friendly things that can be improved but id like to see if im the only one...

1.0remote access-with daily usage and information from customers this is mostly annoying. when waiting for connection over 10s then it is too long...

add a supported way to bypass home.fibaro.com?

1.1 - add % loader, showing if data is actually being downloaded or is there a timeout...

1.2 - show connection status- currently this there is no accurate info about this

sample:connect over remote, minimize the app and reopen after 5 mins. all the icons come up right away but after pressing some light on or open gate nothing happens-sometimes the app does not reconnect but neither informs about this!

1.3 - shortcuts - 3 or more click to open the garage door or gate makes this usage not friendly

1.4 - reloading of data logics. not sure how it works right now but if possible i would casche all in the phone until some checksum changes. during initial loading just check the checksum.

share your opinions...

I notice this thread is old, but rather than start a new one I thought I’d add some questions into the mix….

I am yet to invest in touchpads, but was hoping that someone has experience with both iOS and Android and could tell me which is more stable and if there is more/different functionality in one versus the other?

I read somewhere that Fibaro have not designed the Android interface in the same way as iOS, can’t remember what words were used, something about native design. Either way, I don’t understand what it means.

My preference is for Android tables, but I suppose I want to hear if it’s going to be better to get iOS. I want to hear about it now rather than later when I have the Android tablets and it’s too late to return them.

Fibaro, can you please comment on the above questions?

PS: Kunno, I agree with most of what you are saying. I find it very unimpressive when I am showing someone my setup and I need to click 4 to 5 times, plus scroll through menus to get to it.

1. Shortcuts would be great

2. The ability to hide things (on the app only) would be great

3. Connectivity status is a must – tired (for example) of changing a slider, slider stays in new position but nothing actually happens

4. More info on some devices would be helpful e.g. history of temp for temp sensors

On the other hand, the overall impression I have of the Android app is that it looks and feels pretty darn good. That said, I don’t have any references to compare.
