Remote access not working

Question

Posted

Another post about things not working. I'm away from home, and I want to check on the status of the house via home.fibaro.com. But nothing happens when I select the HC2 for the house.

I'm so insanely fed up with this system failing all the time. Fibaro: Can you please stop dreaming up new scenarios and make the basics work?

And does anyone want to know how my Vera Lite performs? It has a crappy GUI, but it always works.

Just tried remote access, no problem here.

What version are you running ?

I faced the same problem as well. Fibaro support is fixing it for me now though.

Edit: Fibaro support just went through and told me that servers for Singapore, Thailand etc are undergoing for change to new servers. This might take some time for new servers to work again.

I'm running what I believe is the last stable version, 3.590

Both iPhone and iPad report connection error. iPad *always* does this, but iPhone normally works.

Desktop login doesn't work. I manage to get in to the screen where I select HC2, but nothing happens when I click the HC2 image or the config icon.

I manage to get into the configuration panel for the HC2 when I connect with Remote Desktop and access it from a local machine.

I restarted the HC2 via Remote Desktop, and it appears to be working on desktop and iPhone.

iPad is still not working, but that hardly ever works anyway.

The sad thing about this is that this system is far from stable enough to be trusted as a home automation system when you're away from home and without access to pulling the cord when the system becomes unstable.

Fibaro really should focus more on stability. If the system isn't rock solid, then all the deisgn in the world doesn't matter. And I'm saying this as a graphic designer.

I have unstable and long waiting time for remote access. I normally have to wait 20 seconds until it connects. How about you guys?

Also, is there a way I can use 3rd party DNS to host? Anyone know how?

    Thanks.

    Hi All,

Same for me, 30 sec exactly to connect Iphone app in "local" connection!

I just had a demonstration with a big contractor here that failed in the iddle in remote connection (Public IP as I don't even try with fibaro remote which is completely unstable).

    Fibaro, please arrange this

I am a dealer in HK and 20 seconds to connect is not good enough.

I have a Belkin router and just opened an account on dny.com but I am no expert on this, can anyone help on instructions that can use port forwarding and use 3rd party server to remote access HC2? Thanks in advance!

After I opened the account, I am stuck. I emailed Fibaro and asked Is there a way I can set it up with other DNS server host such as DYN.COM ? How?

Reply is as follow, you need to forward port 80 from IP HC2 to public IP or dyndns to get remote access without fibaro servers. Then in mobie app in plase of IP HC you need to type this dyn dns address or public IP with port.

This does not help as I need detailed instructions. Other than sending endless emails, I would like to try getting some help here.

About dyn.com, Using the technology of Dynamic DNS, Remote Access allows you to remotely access your computer, DVR, webcam, camera system, and other devices using an easy to remember custom hostname. Simply install our update client to monitor your device, and your hostname will update whenever its IP address changes.

    Dear All,

I made a kind of recurrent testing on 2 HC2 in remote from Ipad, Iphone and Android phone.

    I'm running V3.902 (HC2a) and 3.591 (HC2b).

I did 10 attempt to connect for each config. Thus 1st, with Iphone, connecting HC2a, testing, then switching to HC2b, testing (10 times each alternately). Which means 20 attempts for both HC2 with Iphone, etc...

The results are (S/10A = Nmbre of Success on 10 Attempts):

    Iphone-HC2a: 6/10

    Iphone-HC2b: 8/10

    Ipad-HC2a: 3/10

    Ipad-HC2b: 6/10

    Android-HC2a: 6/10

    Android-HC2b: 10/10

The last test sequence was with the Android (10/10) thus to be sure it was not linked to network, I alternate Ipad and android for another test and it showed again better stability with android.

Also, during the test, I was constantly pinging google DNS to be sure it wasn't network related (I live in Kinshasa

Moreover, I realized that Ipad app has a big bug related to the RGBW 2 state slide. in fact, very often, if you hit it, it doesn't change state while the device is well switching or it takes longer than with other devices. Also, matimes, it connect with Ipad but when you try to turn a device on/off, it looses the connection.

All interface are using the last app version.

Off course, the 30sec to connect is really endless, and this occurs even when locally connected!!!

Am I suffering from congolease magic (Ndoki) or does everybody else is experiencing the same issues??

Thank you very much for your feedback!

When I go into HC Settings on my IPhone, and try and save the settings.. I get Remote Access Connection - Could not connect to home.fibaro.com message.

Lo and behold.. and now it is fixed!!! If there are any server outages.. it would be good to be notified by Fibaro or them posting it somewhere..

Personally I don't use Fibaro remote access. I am not saying it isn't good, but prefer to keep my information to myself as much as possible.

My ISP provides me with a static IP address and a static DNS name, so can use them to get to my HC2 control panel.

My router then forwards via a port number I chose to the HC2. I.e. I can get to it say with scorpuk.com:1234 (this doesn't exist of course

For access via the iPhone app its slightly harder, if you don't have the right hardware. My router, Fritz!Box 7390, allows me to setup VPN connections to it so that the device appears as if its sitting on the network at home. This works perfectly with my iPhone.

This is a snap shot from my iPhone screen, connected via VPN over 4G:

Just use in camera configuration your external IP with port (forwarded for this cam) - works perfectly

I had them working, but they have become unresponsive as the config page for the cameras are not loading in either http or https. I need to switch em off and on I think.

They are Foscam FI9805E's powered with PoE.

I can still view both via the iPhone app from Foscam. So not going to blame the HC2, yet.

Also powered computer can report current ip to network, or ip camera, or server, or...

My server reports my IP every 15 minutes and binds it to static network adress. So I can connect my home network anytime. IP changes usually once per two or three months, so it's practically always reachable. With bad luck, when IP changes, there would be outage, but I've never suffered from such thing.

There was an update for HCL, version 3.593 is now the latest. It should solve your issues.

    Hi guys!

I just bought a fibaro HCL an various sensors and relays. Everything is working great.

But, i have a strange problem with remote access only working for about 10 minutes after every restart of the HCL.

I have of course registred an account on home.fibaro.com and i have logged inn on the iphone app. The app and direct login via the ip adress of the HCL works all the time when I am on internal wifi. But remote via home.fibaro.com and on the iphone app on 3G only works after an reastart.

After a restart of the HCL it works perfect for about 5-10 minutes. I can log inn and out both on the app on 3G and via home.fibaro.com as many times as I like. Everything is perfect but then suddenly (after about 10 minutes) it is impossible to connect remotely to my hcl. But on wifi (iphone app) and from a pc on the internal network it still works great.

I have the hcl connected straight to my router so no problem there.

I have tried both static and dhcp, and both my service providers dns and googles dns. Both work perfekt (for 10 minutes after restart) and then nothing.

What is remote access only working for 10 minutes after every restart?

and how can I fix it?

Please help so I can use my HCL remote witch is very important to me.

HCL: this device seems to have a real issue with remote access. Though after the update it got better but still no remote access especially during morning hours. Today, I have not even remote access since noon

/emoticons/default_icon_redface.gif" alt="" />! Was told IT Admin works on... This needs to be solved quickly as remote access is key for the success of the entire system (=> control your home from wherever you are!).
