Using Z-Wave Repeater / Extender DSD37-ZWUE Aeon Labs Z-Wave

jojo1967

Question

I just have a question about using an Z-Wave Repeater / Extender like DSD37-ZWUE Aeon Labs Z-Wave Repeater - European version. Did anyone use this Repeater / Extender in his Z-Wave network? I bought two of them, because I still have problems with dead nodes and my Philio 4in1 and Fibaro wall plug nearby didn´t help (although they should work as a repeater too). So I included the Repeater / Extender from Aeon like any other module and rebuild the entire mesh, but there are still some dead nodes.

1. What else can I do to increase the strength of my Z-Wave network?

2. How can I check if Z-Wave is available in a room and how strong it is?

1. In order to increase your strength of your zwave network, it's best to place them within sight. Sometime due to the material of your wall, it might weaken the signal to the minimum.

2. You could use the Fibaro Motion Sensor to test your Zwave strength.

I had asked Fibaro support about this repeater and they said it was not compatible with HC2 and I should use their plug but the issue is that it is not a UK version like what is used here, so anyone has any suggestions as to what to use and is fully compatible with HC2?

Any Z-Wave Wall plug will act as a range extender as all mains powered Z-Wave device will automatically repeat the signal and take an active part of the Z mesh.

We have a KB written about this general subject -

We always recommend using a TKB wall plug as they work great in HC and is a solid reliable wall plug as well.

We've tested the Aeon repeater and can't find any difference with that compared to a wall plug - it repeats the signal in exactly the same way - so no real benefit as far as we can see.

Hope that helps.
