Different battery types and performance

Question

Posted

I purchased 2 Fibaro PIR sensors a month back with my HC2. These came with the Panasonic CR123A batteries and have been working just fine.. However, couple of weeks back, decided to buy 2 more sensors and having installed these, the batteries have gone in a week. I checked the config on both sets of sensors and they are the same.

The only difference I have seen is that the first set came with Panasonic Industrial CR123A batteries where as the second set came with Duracell Ultra. The Panasonics have been working just fine.. Is there this big a difference in the battery strength? Is the Panasonic that much better? If so, why have Fibaro started shipping the Duracell which seem to be very poor.

What have people noticed on this?

Are you sure all devices have the same "Wake up interval"? Are they all installed indoors? Were batteries separated with a piece of paper from elecrodes when you bought sensors?

I have done a comparison between the settings and they are both the same... These are all installed indoors in different rooms in the house to enable switching on the lights based on LUX level and PIR sensor breach...

As to the piece of paper in between the electrode and battery terminal, I seem to recall it being there... but cannot guarantee that it may have been packed properly.. What concerns me is that the 2 sensors that have drained the battery quickly are the v2.6 and the once which are working fine are v2.4. Not sure what is going on here..

Would like some feedback from Fibaro on this as otherwise, I am willing to just ship these 2 new sensors back to Vesternet where I purchased them.

I have the same problem with the battery as per rj. After changing to new batteries bought by myself then it last much longer. Seems that batch of battery is problematic.

I do hope that it is that and nothing else.. Getting some new batteries today so hope to be able to get these sensors up and running. fingers crossed..
