Hi all,

Im getting crazy with this lamps... They are Phillps Master Ledspot GU10 MV

I cant get it dimm correctly.

With 1 lamp and 20 at 137 it works like a charm! (And FGB001 bypass)

With 2 lamps starts filckering...

With 3 lamps its impossible to make it work.

I tried:

- 110, 116, 120, 127, 130, 132, 135, 137, 140, 144,146, 150, 156, 160 and 170 and starts from no flickering and no dimming to flickering like a disco.

- Also tried with 2x FGB001 without luck...

Im using 2 Wire and double switch

Is there any thing im missing? have any of you had success with this lamps?

And finally... does any of you had good expirience with any GU10 8W LED lamp dimming?

Thanks!!

i have used Bypass --- No fix

i have used a neutral wire -- No fix

i have played with steering setting -- No Fix

So what i did ??

I gave UP

at least i know i am not the only one who is having a problem with these dimmers and LED spot lights

We use the 6w Philips master ledspot without any problems (anymore).

I do not know if there is a difference between the two?

We connect them with the bypass, and make sure the output and the Null are connected to each other. If this is what you have done, then the lights are different...

yes this is what i have done

i have tried with 2-wire setup and also 3 wire setup

mine are 8 Watts so for sure they are different.... it seems that they do not like fibaro dimmers ...

Are you sure your versions of light bulbs are dimmable? On Phillips site there is information that only a few bulbs from this family are dimmable. Can you post scheme of connection between devices, dimmer and power supply?

I have a similar problem.

I am using these Ikea led lights:

And this ceiling lamp:

The problem i have is, that i have this ceiling light connected to the dimmer but only one of the led lights works (it dims perfectly), the other one doesnt turn on. I used it with the 3 wire and 2 wire install, also using dimmer bypass, but in both occasions only 1 light turns on!

Any idea what i am doing wrong?

BTW i checked both led light seperately and they work fine!

(The ceiling lights are connected parallel in the ceiling lamp, should it make a difference if i would connect them in serie?)

We have very good experiences with Philips Master Led MV 4W. We place them in several configurations, in both 2-3 wire setup and its always good. Sometimes you need the dimbypass. We've connected 2,4,5 7 and even 9 lights in 1 string. Only thing in Holland is around 23h when utilitycompanies switch to nighttariff the lights flicker a bit because of the signal on the grid.

    Hi Nowacki,

Here you can see the model, and yes, it's dimmable.

Please login or register to see this link.

Lets do one thing: tell me how would you do connections and configuration and I will try at home doing a Lab on a table. I just bought extra wiring.

Perhaps in the specs you are finding the missing step..

Without getting into the nitty-gritty of it, this can happen, even with the best of bulbs when connected to a dimmer working on the principle of the fibaro dimmer unit. A solution might be to connect even more bulbs to keep the current above breakdown current, but that seems counter productive. You can't say something general about what triggers as it is completely dependant on your grid, what might work for one person might not work for you. So it isn't the leds who aren't dimmer friendly, it is the dimmer which isn't LED friendly.

Really, fibaro dimmers should only be used with incandesent bulbs as electronic bulbs might act funny.

I've gone for another solution and ditched the fib dimmers all together and is instead building my lighting around Hue bulbs. Yes they are damned expensive, but they work exactly as I want and with no issues what-so-ever.

Ps.: if you aren't careful, LEDs might also melt your dimmers.

    Hi harrytasker

I was going to buy 3 of this bulbs. Thanks for sharing... Did you play with the 20 value?. On the other hand, are they dimming ok one by one?

    Thanks!

    Hi Dalle,

Good point.. I thought Fibaro Dimmer was OK for LED but doesent look like.

On the other hand, I will test with some more units and tell you

    Best regards

You can also try changing parameter 10 to 0 and increasing parameter 13.

Dimming is fine but only works on 1 light the other one doesnt do anything! Why? I don't know, if u test them separately they work just fine!

I did play with the 20 value, nothing much changed, but i havent tried it extensively yet...

I unplugged the light that was not working, then i put the working light in the spot of the light that wasn't working. The light turned on as expected, then i put in the light that was not working before in the plug and guess what both lights were working!

Then i turned the lights off and on again, only 1 light was burning again

On a side note the toggle switch doesnt work anymore to turn light on/off after changing it into the 2 wire setup....strange... when using the 3 wire setup it worked fine...

I took the connections from the manual, see below!

Are these connections right? Dont they have to be hooked up to S1 & Sx? Is that why my switch is not working anymore? Fault in manual?

Okay, so we'll be going into the nitty-gritty anyway now, but the bulbs have filters in them, a simple LC circuit. This filter will interfere with the dimmers function, which might result in the other bulbs not triggering, or only triggering intermittently. But other components plugged into the same phase might also add to the interference. Therefore, what might work for some å, might not work for you.

Im testing in my lab and NO SUCCESS success at all.

Tried with 3 bulbs, with by pass and even with a normal 60W lamp...

Tried increaisng 13 and letting 10 at 0. No way.

I agree with Dalle1985 while im seeing some bulbs dimming and others blinking or not dimming at all at the same time... there must be something different inside.

Once we are here im getting close to surrender and go to normal dimmers cause its more expensive to change bulbs than to change the switcuesh.

    Questions:

Will we have some LED-Friendly dimmer from Fibaro?

Will we hava at least a list of working led lamps with actual fibaro dimmers?

The thing is, it isn't that straight forward to create! The issue resides in the fact that the LED doesn't imterprit the triac output in the same way as a incandecent bulb. Shifting to trailing edge dimmers might give a better result, but the real problem is with the bulbs as it is a bit of a wild west out there when it comes to LED bulb drivers. The best waynto ensure that they work properly with triac dimmers is to look for bulbs designed after the SSL-6A or SSL-7 standard, which are supposed to work nicely with dimmers. It isn't a guarantee, but chances will be better. The Philips master series have really good LEDs, but the drivers might not be desipgned according to the latest standards.

I've gone down a different route and done away with the dimmers all together by purchasing Philips Hue bulbs instead. Expensive? Yes, but it gives me way better control and I don't meed to worry about dimmers screwing with my lights or melting inserts.

I tried these as suggested in this thread and they are working fine! Even when connected 2 of them!

I just posted a similar response on another thread:

Please login or register to see this link.

I have about 100 LEDs in my house. About 50 of those are Philips. I tried different Philips models and the only one that worked for me was the Philips Dimtones. They are not cheap but they do work faultlessly (so far).

I have experienced pretty much all of the symptoms that have been described on this thread using other Philips GU10 LED bulbs:

    - flickering (of one of more lights in a circuit)

    - strobing (above and below certain dim levels)

    - only some bulbs turning on some times followed by all bulbs turning on subsequent times

I also tried mixing incandescent bulbs into the circuit and using the Fibaro bypass as well as playing around with the config settings of the Fibaro Dimmer module. In the end I just kept buying different models until I found one that worked; Philips Dimtone.

It would be interesting if someone managed to get other LEDs to work but given the hours/days I spent testing it I’d be surprised if it was possible ie once you get the symptoms I have experienced above I guess it just means that the model you are using is not supported.

As I also mentioned in the other thread (above) I get buzzing on some Fibaro Dimmer modules. It happens more so as I drop the dim level below 100%. I still have not figured out why his happens. Is it down to faulty Fibaro modules or is it something to do with my installation. I have played around with the Dimmer config that Fibaro support advised and it does seem to reduce the buzzing a little but not get rid of it completely. The buzzing is loud enough that you can hear it in the room when it’s quiet. It’s actually really annoying at night time. If anyone has managed to figure out why, please share it.

Do you have to change any settings in the Fibaro or do you leave it as is?
