Override Yahoo Weather with virtual device value

Question

Posted

Dear all

How can i get a virtual device value (id=226) to be used as HC2 outside temperature rather than the inaccurate yahoo weather source?

I have found that HC2 has id=3 as weather device but how can i code it so that 226 virtual device, label1 ??

Any help or guidance would be much appreciated

Cheers

I think the user wants it the other way... Replace yahoo with device value? If so I'm not sure how possible it is as the weather feed from yahoo would constantly change any value you drop in the table from your device...

LBDuckers,

You can simply get the value directly from Your weather device and use it instead of Yahoo parameters.

how can i get the value from "label1" of virtual device id 226 and use it instead of yahoo parameters?

i want it to show on the top of webpage login screen plus most importantly in the middle of the iPad app weather "home screen"

DO you know what i mean? Surely this is possible some how?

Can I not just reverse the suggest LUA code above?

    thanks again for your help.

    LBDuckers,

It's not possible to copy Value directly from virtual device label. Instead, i suggest using source of that value multiple times, e.g. by writing it into global variable or calling it every time You need it.

What acts as source for that label1, id 226 value?

In case You get proper weather info from normal device the code above should work.

Id 3 is permamently linked to Yahoo weather and cannot be changed.

    Best Regards

Label1 of v device is an oregon scientific temperature gauge outside in the garden. Hence it is more accurate than a rough estimate from "yahoo".

So are you saying there is no way of overriding the temperature, wind speed and humidity that is displayed on the home screen of the iPad app?

I really want this to happen as I have iPads around the house to control the house via Hc2 but the weather is wrong!!

    Thanks for your input.

LBDuckers unfortunately it is not possible to change source of this data. You can only read your measurements in Virtual Device or use them in scenes.

Thanks. Are there any plans for this to change in a new release? I believe many people will have more accurate sourcing of outside temp, humidity, wind speed, etc as they are into Home automation and technology!!

I know a lot of people on this forum at least use oregon scientific devices for scene use, etc

I would love to have an accurate view of the weather outside from my iPad home screen

Thanks again everyone for their input

    Cheers
