I have a HC2 and I never saw a HCL. Can you check if you can import virtual devices? I could send you my remote a bit modified.

Casar, HCL can import virtual devices but it won't be able to run them if they use LUA.

Interesting... I did not know that one can have virtual devices without LUA.

Casar, it is still possible to send strings from virtual device in HCL to declared address.

It might work then. We can check. I will export my samsung remote this evening.

Casar, it depends on a way you control this TV. If LUA is in use then it won't work on HCL.

I checked. My Samsung remote uses LUA so it will not work. Maybe passing the string KEY_POWEROFF will shut down the TV but I doubt. It would be too easy.

the simple sending of the key_power command does not work. This would be too simple...

Are you guys using IR to control the Samsung Smart TV or using IP protocol?

At this stage I wanted to use IP. I want to set up a scene to open the movie screen, close the blinds, and switch off the tv (if on).

julexmon, I don't think you can use IP without using Lua? I'm not very sure but I've never seen Ip without lua before.

In your scene, do you mean movie scene where you want to open the movie screen, close the blind and turn on the tv?

Should be possible to send the command as a string which I am fairly certain the HCL will do. You just need to add the right header and then the command for the tv.

I quite agree with dalle. Why would you need LUA to send a simple http request?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I doubt newer Samsungs are controlled by LUA directly, and if so, I cannot see why an HCL would not be able to send a string containg some LUA code incapsulated in an http request?

I have an HCL and I tried to achieve the same with my Samsung TV. You have to configure your TV correctly, and find the right request. It turned out my TV was one year too old for this to work. (Experimenting, I found some iPhone app with the proper http commands and instructions. It might have worked if I had installed some custom app on the samsung TV, but this would have been erased every power cycle making it quite useless.)
