Hi all,

I have a question about the routing of the Fibaro smoke sensors.

When installing the sensors, I add them to my HC2 and the lights go green steady when doing the range test.

But whenever I place a smoke sensor in it's place it will no longer find a direct connection to the HC2. Also no routed connection (steady yellow LED) will be established even if I put another smoke sensor in between the two.

So I have some questions;

A: Do the smoke sensors work as "routers/node" too? or can't they form a network of sensors?

I.E. 1 smoke sensor is out of range (red LED), can you make it go into routed mode by placing

a directly connected smoke sensor in between or do I need a Fibaro power plug to acts as a

router for example?

B: What is the range of the sensors? I am having lots of connection problems, even if a sensor is

on the first floor with no direct walls between HC2 and sensory (only concrete ceiling).

only 1 of my 5 sensors can get a connection, this one is place 1 meter above the HC2.

Does anyone know a fix for this?

And another question about the devices added within the HC2 itself;

Is it possible to add virtual devices to, for example, the "Blinds" list? I have Somfy blinds which are controlled via a Homewizard. I added those to my virtual devices and they work like a charm. But to make things complete it would be awesome to be able to add VD to other appropriate systems..

Kind regards,

Dennis

Hi DeNnZ, when smoke sensors are powered by battery they can not route signal from one sensor to another, just like all battery devices they spend most of the time in a "sleep" mode. Range of Z-wave is up to 30m in open field, but inside buildings it drops significantly and depends on a materials used in a house. Please add some non-battery devices to increase range.

Unfortunately in current version of firmware virtual devices don't have types. But of course we will consider your suggestions in next updates.

Have you tried updating the network with the sensor in place? As I understand it, the mesh won't auto update if you move a device.

Try creating a lua scene with just this one line of code:

Please login or register to see this code.

Then save the scene and hit Start. Don't stop the scene again, just let it run.

This should update your entire routing table and hopefully find a route for your smoke detector if you have any routing devices inbetween. You need a little patience though as the routing will only be fully updated once all sleeping nodes have been through at least one wake up.
