Has anybody bypassed the CR2 battery and powered the Fibaro Door/Window sensor from a hardwired mains supply ?

My battery life is no where near the uoted "2 years" from the Fibaro manual and I've lost patients with the sensor reconfiguration dance in order to change the battery

budda,

Do You change the battery with open doors or with closed? In the first case there shouldn't be need to reconfigure the sensor. Otherwise the sensor enters reset mode and it needs configuration.

As for battery lifetime, did You try changing wake-up interval? Is sensor used in-door or out-door? In what temperature it usually works?

To be honest, D/W sensor is battery dedicated and it is not recommended to interfere in its power supply system.

Fibaro says "In order not to trigger an alarm when replacing the

battery, II-nd association group must be deleted

and the Sensor's configuration must be changed to

default, prior to the battery change."

Overall i'm just not happy with battery life so investigating power supplies for the sensors instead.

    Hi Budda,

It surprises me that the battery is dying so frequently, what sort of settings are you using? Wake interval does make a difference, but also how often the door itself is being used. Under normal circumstances the batteries should last at least 2 years.

However if you still feel a hard wired solution would be better, you're better off using a universal sensor with either a Reed Switch or a 3rd Party wired Door Contact. This would give you the added benefit of having an extra listening node in the network, as well as an additional binary input for something else.

From a technical perspective, there is nothing stopping you from adding a DC power supply to the Door/Window Sensor, but you'll be interfering with the device so will void the warranty and potentially damage the unit.

    I hope this information helps.

    Daniel
