Hi,

I'm looking for documentation on "Connecting HC2 gateways" feature. My idea would be to add a second HC2 in a hidden place, in case the main one breaks or is stolen by a burglar... if I buy a second HC2 and configure it here, can it work as primary in case the main one disappears? especially during the winter it would be a disaster to be without heating even just for a few days, and then having to reconfigure everything...

OK, but as asked many times before (and probably the first post in this thread which seems not to have been answered yet):

If either of these units fail, will everything still continue to work or will everything stop working if the primary is lost?

You say that they can appear as one which to me means that if either the first or the second unit fails or is stolen EVERYTHING continues without a glitch i.e. all scenes still work, all associations still work, all devices (real or virtual) still work and exist. Along with everything else.

Yes, that is what I mean by clustering; two hc2's working virtually as one. Is this possible now? How does this work? Do you have any reference reading material about this?

Fibaro can, but have to do it, or insist it has to be done, at their site. My experience: It took about three weeks including two weeks due to shipping to and fro. I got a new unit eg new sn/motherboard/mac id, but with the old HC2 casing. But i got my config restored to the new unit!

Can you please explain better how does this work? If I connect 2 gateways and then one breaks, can the other one run independently with all config, devices, scenes, etc?

rcanetta, this functionality was meant to extend range of network, connecting more than 230 devices or including remote locations to the existing system. You can connect slave controller to the master one and all of the slave's devices will be visible there. However it is not designed to work as a backup of your system: when master is disconnected, all modules can still be controlled from slave but you will not have scenes or Virtual Devices that were implemented on master. When slave is down devices cannot be accessed.

ok thanks. Then I will buy another HC as soon as you implement the complete backup, so that the secondary unit can work 100% also when primary unit is removed - any hope to have this in version 4?

rcanetta, as I said this solution is not meant to ensure backup controller. However we are planning making movable backups in the future, but not before introducing crucial changes in our system to assure proper level of security.

That is very good news indeed. Sending the HC/HC2 to Poland is just not a good solution. Thanks for that!

UrSv, but please notice that it is still in planning phase, not something that will be introduced in the next update or month.

Thanks - I hope that with all the messages in this forum you will prioritize this development. I (and I believe many others) will still buy a secondary HC and keep it in a closet, powered off, just in case the main one fails - if I have a failure during the winter, in fact, I cannot stay without heating and currently I would need to re-mount the old manual thermostats...
