Hi All,
I kinda like the energy panel (well I like it a lot) but there are two things that REALLY bug me:
1) In the iPad app (which I, and I assume lots of others, use a lot) you cannot do a comparative analysis by DEVICE (bulb) only by HOUSE (House icon). This is really annoying because it ultimately is totally unhelpful. Yes you get nice graphs which show power levels and this is fine if you only have two devices on and you know what they are but if you have a problem or lots of devices where power fluctuates it's impossible to know what is what when all you see is 'Series 1', 'Series 2' etc etc. Why can't we see the actual names?? I hope this gets fixed as it's so useful but, not at the minute when this happens:
2) The big problem is when you get something that causes a problem (and I'm sure this must be a BUG in the programming.
I've got, say, two devices on in a room. One uses 7.5W, the other 16W. Then, out of the blue, I see power consumption go mad on 'Series 8' (see 1 above why this was unhelpful). I can find nothing else on in the room and eventually have to resort to turning on my PC. Whilst PC boots up I used a volt tester to check everything in room....only two devices on, no third device on at all....so confused. I then log onto HC2 and check the fully functional version of the energy panel (much more helpful as you can compare the devices by name and room). I then see that this 'phantom' device is actually my UFH Netmonitor, which is controlled by a TKB Energy Meter Plug (TZ88E). It is saying (on energy panel) that it is On and using >1,1kW!!! This is even though plug is OFF, verified by voltmeter. Not only this but it's never used (maybe once in two months)!! So, to 'fix', I turned it on for two seconds, then turned it Off again. I see the values go from >1.1kW to 3.5W to 2.9W to 0W. So, effectively it's a bug in the program, it was never on in the first place and yet was reading 1.1kW (yes that's kW) for no reason.
I took screenshots but don't know how to put them on here to be honest. Either way this started off with me stressing that something in my house was eating power out of nowhere and then I realised it wasn't even on but was giving false readings. I also checked...it wasn't the energy meter on the plug as the screenshot on that showed 0W.
Anyone else seen this? And will the Device comparison be fixed in versions greater than 3.590?
KR, Dave
