Good Morning Everyone,

As some of you have already stumbled upon, on Friday we set up a new framework for creating a searchable database of virtual devices. At present, you'll see there are only a few devices but we will be adding more as time goes on.

You can find the Database here -

Please login or register to see this link.

We would also like to start collating devices created by all of you. Where a device is added that is created by community member (whether it's this forum or a 3rd Party website) we will ensure credit is given to the person who wrote it.

We really hope this resource will be of use to everyone - from newcomers to the system and our growing community of power users.

As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so if we can improve it in any way just drop us a line.

All the best,

Daniel

The first and, IMHO, obvious suggestion would be to move the repository to fibaro.com as putting resources in different places for the same company on different domains makes it impossible to find stuff.

Other than that it's a good idea.

I agree, the UK site has a couple of really nice features such as tutorials and lua guide that I totally missed since it wasn't on the .com site.

    Hi UrSv, dhangel,

Thanks for the feedback guys, what you're saying makes a lot of sense.

As Fibaro UK our primary aim to ensure we're creating and maintaining UK-specific content, resources and support materials for our users - written by native speakers and backed up with local telephone and email support. If we can also help out the international community that's a great bonus for us.

In the future, if we can unify the materials in a way that serves all countries and communities at once we will definitely work towards that.

    Regards,

    Daniel

I have a lot of info from

Please login or register to see this link.

I know Krikroff and Shad are there among others. Maybe you can ask members there if they want their virtual devices shared. I got the Yamaha amplifier virtual device from that forum and there's really a lot of other info on it. Only downside is, it's french. Not a real problem to a belgian guy like me but I guess brits don't really speak alot of french. Google translate goes a long way though.

    Thanks for the tip Tekvibes.

Will definitely check that out (language barrier permitting!)

    Cheers,

Did not know that forum, but it definitely is a great source for tutorials, even though I don't speak much French.

    Hello ,

The Idea is good but maybe too late .

As soon as the plugins are open for development I am pretty sure , most of those virtual devices will disappear and merged to plugins . Those plugins will be a lot more userfriendly . No Global Variables need to be created and and and.....

So nicely done even if it will be not used anymore in the future.

Maybe, on the other hand I see many tutorials and virtual devices on that forum that I've never seen on this forum. So apparantly there is an entire world out there that the english-only people amongst us have never experienced. And considering the amount of serious bugs in the latest alpha's and even beta's and the pace at which Fibaro is resolving them, I don't see it happening that they will release a stable 4.x anywhere within the next 3-6 months.

Therefor I applaud the effort of Daniel in unfolding some nice virtual devices to the international community.

    Hi fuuss,

I completely agree - many devices will become plugins (that I can say for sure

The way I see it, while there may be a situation where some of the devices are not needed any more. But I still think it can continue to be a useful resource for people once plugins come of age.

    All the best,

    Daniel
