Hi everyone,
I would like to announce a new Virtual Device available in the Fibaro UK
Please login or register to see this link.
You can now download a SkyHD virtual device which will enable you to connect to the RS-232 port on the back of a SkyHD box (via an IP-RS232 converter) and receive feedback from it. Feedback includes the state of the SkyHD box (on/off), the current channel number and when the box is correctly tuned: information about the channel, current programme, date and time, etc.
The RS-232 port on a SkyHD box is one-way only. It only sends information. This is a limitation imposed by Sky - I don't know why. If you want to control the box, you will need to send IR to the port at the front. This virtual device does not do this!
The virtual device will write decoded messages it receives from the SkyHD box to a global variable so you can use the status change to run other scenes. For example, when the SkyHD box turns on, turn on the TV and dim the lights.
This version of the device is very rudimentary and you will see that although the structure of the code is there for each recognised command, there is no body to it. What you do when something happens is up to you. Also, there is a button on the virtual device - this does nothing. It is only there to enable you to open the interface so you can read the status on the label. Without the button you can't open the virtual device's interface.
If you need any help with any of the Lua code used in this Virtual Device, check out the Fibaro UK
