Anyone else experienced heavy battery usage (background), without even using the app during the time?

Nope, for me it's 2% in the last 24h and over the past 5 days. I use it a couple of times per day, but not to do more than just 1 or 2 actions at a time.

Have you perhaps got gps-positioning switched on? This ate through my battery like a Chevy V8 goes through a tank of gas.

Same experience, a longer interval did not change much; my iPhone would get very hot and be empty within hours.
