Icons not working after recovery

Hi all,

After I tried a 4.x beta, I reverted back to 3.590 stable using recovery mode.

All is working now, except the custom icons for virtual devices and rooms. They just show a "broken image" placeholder in the browser.

Strange detail: the icons still work in the iPhone app.

How can I make the icons function again?

Is that a guess or do you actually know that? Especially since the iPhone app still shows the icons, it seems they're still there. And when I go to the menu where an icon can be picked, it shows placeholders for every icon.

It seems more like a rights issue; the files are there but the web interface doesn't have access to them.

its not included in backup for 100% sure, you are looking at local cache on phone.

rb338, backup does not include icons. The ones you are looking at on your phone were downloaded during last connection. The system presents place for icons because their ID's were remembered when copying system configuration.

This is a painful thing to realise.

I did the same as you and upon reverting back to 3.591, which showed as 3.590 stable in the HC2 interface, all my icons were present (go figure), so I went and restored again back to 3.591 and lost them all!

Based on the explanations in this thread the 3.590 restore should not have shown the icons (at least that’s my interpretation of what is being said) but it did. I regret restoring my 3.591 backup because at this point it looks like the two versions were one and the same. Once again, go figure.

4 hours later and most of the icons were uploaded again, many more hours later (including some handy work yesterday) and I think I have all my icons back.

That was a painful exercise and it only involved upload icons again. I dare not think what would happen if there was a more serious failure.

PS: I also ended up with weird things like light bulbs replacing custom icons on totally inappropriate devices.

It's a shame Fibaro is ignoring their customers asking for including icons to the backup.

This case could have been easily avoided.
