Starts when Home Centre 2 Starts Checkbox Meaning

Question

Posted

Hi,

I am wondering what the real meaning behind the options available in scenes "Starts when Home Centre 2 Starts" ?

Does it mean when I have that activated, the scene will run when the HC2 completed rebooting and started ? or does it mean something else ?

I have a scene that is triggered by a sunset event everyday (turn on external lights). Previously I have that option enabled for this scene. When I disabled it, the scene does not run anymore. What is the explanation for that ?

Can anybody shed some "lights" on this matter. Thank you and much appreciated.

It does what it says on the package. The scene is activated when the HC2 is booted up. Disabling this function means that you need either a trigger or to start the scene manually by pushing start in the scene screen.

Ok that's what I thought. But what I can't comprehend is why does my scene that uses a sunset and sunrise trigger no longer runs when I disable this option on their scene. It seems weird.

alijanah, that is because these scenes run all the time. They start at boot-up, then enters loop, where conditions are checked every minute. When current hour matches the set one, the scene's body take place.

So is that the same as putting "%% autostart" in the header section of a Lua script?

In that case, all scenes that are triggered by external conditions such as time of day, door open, light level low, etc should have this option enabled ? Am I correct to assume that. Meaning it will need to run and then go into a loop waiting for the trigger.
