The smoke sensor can only use battery or permanent power. But if I manage to get the cable and battery connected at the same time, will it then work and then have the battery as backup?

You beter can use an external powersupply with an accu als Back-up.

    He means that you should use UPS or similar to have backup power. This way if the power is out then UPS keeps smoke detectors alive for certain time. You can add HC2 to same UPS so it keeps your z-wave system up and running without power also.

    swapsakker, such solution is not recommended, because some external circuit with diodes may be needed. Therefore this is unauthorized interference into hardware and may void the warranty.
