Hi all

i'm new into this fascinating world! I'm planning to put some intelligence in my brand new house in Spain (by December this year). Hope i can find some support from you all guys!!It will be challenging...

My plan so far:

Home control: Fibaro Home Center Lite

Climate control: I've selected so far SEC_SCS318 for Thermo and REM_ZXT120 for AC. Any better reccomendation here? will they work fine?

Motion sensor: FIB_FGMS-001

for Lights:

· 2 x FIB_FGRGB-101 for my 5 meters LEDS

· 3 x FIB_FGS_221

· 1 x FIB_FGWPF-101

Blinds:

· 3 x FIB_FGRM_222

IP Camera:

· FOSCAM FI8918W. I'm right here? any better choice?

I'm about to order all this stuff and start playing with it...

thank you very much in advance for your support

David

Welcome, but for ZXT 120 you can wait V4. It is still not supported and don't ask when is v4.

thanks Shad. Any recommendation in the interim?

Depending how much control you want for your home it may be worth paying the extra for the HC2 over the HCL. The HCL does not have LUA so if you need to run more intricate scenes you may not be able to with the HCL

HC2 is definitely worth considering. It is much more powerful than the HCL and can do much more. Many of the posters on here with HCLs spend a lot of their time getting around the fact that they can't do proper coding with the HCL, limiting the usefullness of the box, and reducing the joy of seeing the benefits from an automated home.

The HC2 is a bit more expensive, but there is a reason for that. If you just want to keep your setup very simple and have no knowledge of programming, then the HCL is just fine, but if you expect to expand the setup and do advanced scenes which can do more than just turn on a light when motion is detected, I would definitely shell out the extra cash for the HC2

fat, Dalle1985, thanks for the reply!

I'll check upgrading to HC2. I'm a software engineer, so Ok with programming, but no sure of having all the time needed for investigation&develpment!

watht about the controls? do they seem right?

Lua is extremely easy to learn and doesn't take long to do programming in it - I don't spend more time on simple scenes than I would with blocks - but the code works a lot better when written in Lua and it is way more powerful.

Regarding your controls, it ofcause very much depends on what you want to control.

What kind of heating do you have? Underfloor? Radiators? As mentioned above, the ZXT-120 is not supported yet and development is painfully slow with Fibaro (probably their biggest weakness) so you might need to wait some while before you can expect it to function properly. The rest of your components are all fibaro - they are all integrate very well and are all fairly easy to include.

    Dalle1985, thanks fro the reply.

I'd like to control the heating radiators in a simple way. Which control will you recommend?

Electric or water? If you have electric radiators you need a relay to switch them on/off, if they are water heated radiators, you should use something like the danfoss z-wave enabled thermostat. It clips directly onto the radiator instead of the original thermostat and enables you to change the setpoint of each radiator individually.

Using FGRGB-101 and wanting to control LED stripes i definitely would go for the HC2.

Oh, and always buy RGB+W stripes, this way you get 100% better light and can play around with color more.

Even if you just want white, get RGBW. Just my tip, the you can adjust the "White" as you want it.

You can't set color, scenes, start LED programs etc with HCL using scenes right now, so for this reason alone i would go for HC2.

Controlling scenes with S2 input is also not supported and thats a big part i think.

But as someone said you get 150% more functionality with HC2

    I control everything @ home with HC2.

TV, Reciver, Apple TV, audio, Sonos, UFO patio heater via global cache WifiToIR.

It always expands, and even if you get the perfect plugin there is always something

that you want to do different from someone else and then you need LUA.

Basically, if you want future proof and expandable you get HC2.

That way you can control anything.

If you use the features then its worth it, but if you don't then no.

And also, why do you use relays and not dimmers?

speedy, good question! I'll check which of the other lights can be dimmed

Any recommendation for the boiler control?

For IR control of AC I would use :

Please login or register to see this link.

It's a rock solid product and I use it for Apple TV and tv control everyday and it never fails.

And for boiler, I don't know what your purpose is, only on off och specific temperature?

You could just use a relay and a Dallas sensor to control it.

Then make scenes to get the functions you need.

But for above cases you need a hc2.
