What are others using to power the Universal Sensor module?

Looking at the instruction leaflet it mentions a need for a 9-30V DC ±10% input.

But what mA is required on the input side?

Can I use something like an LED lighting AC/DC transformer?

Fibaro might be able to answer this with 100% accuracy but it will be minimal in the mA range.

It will wary a little depending on voltage.

Outputs have a maximum of 150mA but thats a different thing.

So a guess might be 1-5mA for driving the wireless circuit?

They are somewhat sensitive to SMPS residuals so before installing the PSU make sure it works with the UBS. I'd use a normal outlet with a normal wallwart PSU, preferably linear with > 12 VDC out, for easy maintenance.

    What are "SMPS residuals" ?

I'm wanting to avoid any wall socket transformer as I intend to install the UBS inside my Risco Agility 3 alarm system and power from the 240V mains.

Switch Mode Power Supply residual noise aka "switching noise". Almost all wall warts are switching supplies today. If they are too bad, even if still working with the equipment they were intended for, they will not work with the UBS. At least that is my experience.

If you install it inside your alarm system enclosure I'd bet there is already a 12 VDC supply available so that you would need nothing. Usually there is a 12 V battery inside so if nothing else you can connect the UBS to that terminal. Be careful with polarity.

Too bad, the Agility unit seems to use a 6 V battery.
