Recommended Posts

i installed a DS18B20 Temp. Sensor in each Fibaro Door sensor and the Door Sensor's LED did illuminate after i attached the Temp Sensor.

1st Problem: HCL didnt show any Temperature information

2nd Problem: 24hrs after installing the Temp. Sensor, both Batteries are nearly empty (HCL shows this info).

What did i do wrong ?

i followed this page step by step:

which means: yes, i first installed the DS18B20 Temp. Sensor and then added them to the network.

Are you SURE you mounted the 1820 correctly? If you flip it around, you will short circuit the sensor, and that would certaintly drain your battery.

I failed first the same way, propably the sensor is not connected correctly.

In my case wrong installation created lot of heat = would have drained the battery quickly.

    @Rantta: didnt feel any heat.

In order to place the Sensor INSIDE the Fibaro Case, i cut the legs of the Sensor.

But atm i cant imagine that this caused the problem !?!

HOW should the Temp Sensor be installed ?

With the FLAT Side bottom down or with the ROUND side bottom down ?

I ordered some new batteries which should arrive today

Adding this sensor is indeed rather fiddly. I, too, followed that guide, and had success after trying several times. Of course, make sure the sensor is installed correctly. Also make sure none of the temperature sensor wires (legs, as you call them) do not touch. I have found that the Door/wndow sensor keeps blinking when it is not properly included. This would drain the batteries quickly.

The method I had success with, is the following:

    1. Reset the sensor as described in the guide you linked to.

    2. Delete the device in your home center.

    3. Include the sensor in you Home Center z-wave network in the immediate proximity (no more than a few centimeters) of your Home Center (following the guide you linked to).

    4. Leave it by your Home Center for a minute.

    5. Wake it up by triple clicking, still while in the immediate proximity of the Home Center.

    6. Confirm (in your Home Center messages window) that the device has been configured. You should have left your browser open on the Home Center web page.

If your device if fresh out of the box, you can of course skip 1 and 2.

This just my experience. Hope this helps.

@j.nowacki: thats how i tried it first, but round side down was what i did try later...

So by now i know why the batteries are empty.

This evening i will try it again and i will post the result here

i finallay managed it, but one sensor always shows 25,68°C, which is definately not correct.

I tried to reconfigured and to relaod parameters, but nothing helped so far.

    Any ideas ?

btw: no LED Diode was blinking when i attached the Temp. Sensor.
