Build a scene that switches my 1x3kW switch on and off

Question

Posted

Hey everybody!

I'm new to Fibaro and have been trying to build a simple scene with no luck. I am trying to create a scene that repeats every 30 minutes and switches my Fibaro relay switch ON for 540 seconds then OFF for 1260 seconds and then starts over. Its for my electric floor heating and is replacing a floor heating regulator. Any help with building this scene would be great. I can switch the relay on and off from iOS app and the web interface, but nothing happens when I try to switch it on with even the simplest scene.

Regards

Ole

Ole, if the scene is based on time and you are using blocks, the check box "Start when HC starts " should be ticked.

If I tick that box it unticks itself when I hit save.

Here is what the scene looks like now. I have no idea if its correctly built up, but I haven't found any documentation on building scenes. It would be great if you could build the scene the way it should look and post an image of it. Thanks.

No, that vill never work. I do not have a HC2 here so i cannot show you.

But some of your "and" should be "then" and a few other problems.

Is really "Start with HC2" relevant for a timer triggered scene? SHould not "Scene Active" suffice?

Yeah, thats another problem, I can't change any of the and statements to then.

JanJoh, for all block scenes based on time it should be ticked.

Ole, if re-adding the scene and restarting controller does not help and you are still not able to change any condition to then, contact support and they will help you and show some basics.

I will try deleting the scene, restart, and build it from scratch and see if that works. Will post the results.

Another quick question: Is it normal behavior for the relay switch to make a clanking sound and emit a blue flash/light when switching it off?

Aha. That makes sense i suppose.. i never use blocks.

Ole, clicking is normal, however no blue light should be visible. Please contact your electrician to determine cause of it.

Where that blue light is seen? Make sure that it is not a spark... then you may have a faulty wiring and that can be really dangerous!

Yeah, the light is actually more green. I filmed the relay as I switched it off and grabbed the still frame so you guys can have a look. Any of you have a relay you can check for comparison? By the way, the floor heats up and the switch only gets lukewarm.

    Thanks for your help!

Ole, I am afraid it is physical damage, please return this module to warranty. If you are not familiar with such procedure, let me know on PM

Ok, I have sent an e-mail to my Fibaro dealer about it.

    Dear Nowacki

I have received an answer from my dealer and he has tested another fibaro relay switch and that also gives of a little flash when switching the relay off. Are you sure it's not supposed to be like that? We now have three switches that all display the same behavior. Can you please verify wether this is normal or not with your technicians? Just seems strange to me that we would have three faulty switches. What do you think?

I have also been tinkering with the simple scene which is to control the relay switch for my floor heating. It still doesn't work and I have restarted HC2 also. Can someone tell me what's wrong with it? (I want a different scene running on the weekends which is why sat and sun are not ticked)

What I want is for the switch to be on 60% of the time during every 30 minutes from 7:42 to 22:00 every weekday.

Help with this would be great
