Using several variables in a scene "time of day"

I made a global variable for time of day, morning, afternoon, evenng etc. Iv made scenes for all.

But when i make a scene where i want to use several of these together it aint working?

I put like

variable morning

or

variable afternoon

or

variable evening

then

turn on device

but that does not work why? I need to make a new scene for each variable it seems?

variable in programing can't have a space so only solution is "time_of_day"
