Hi Amos,

I have exactly the same problem. I contacted Fibaro support, and after a remote session was told to post the box to poland using DHL. The only issue is that it will apparently cost me £80 (or a £100)!

Candrea77 - do you have an alternative solution?

Thanks,

Jonny

similar situation. can't boot into recovery, but didn't discuss it with support yet because I'm not willing to pay the shipping anyway...

@candrea77: if you have a DIY solution I'm in.

Have you checked to see if the HC2 has come up with different ip. Could be DHCP, static you have set or default 192.168.81.1

    Bad luck!!!

It is probably now the standard support story for a fault of this type that gets Fibaro all the bad press and has caused more flames on this forum than any other topic.

How they believe that EU customers should have to pay to ship a unit back to Poland I do not understand. I am not sure it even complies with EU law.

In the UK we have extended laws above and beyond EU law for products that do not materially function as could be reasonably expected. This covers for 6 years from sale of product. Even in EU I believe you have 3. So probably best to contact your retailer and demand a replacement.

I just had the same story few hours ago. I restarted several times and now after some minutes of leds lit the HC finally booted up.

Robmac, in theory I agree with you, but replacement means a lot of work wasted in absence of an external backup.

I don't want to start from scratch again. What about the backup on a secure server, why I can't backup my scenes easily?

WHY? FIBARO TEAM, DON'T TELL US FOR SECURITY REASON!!!!

A BACKUP EVEN CRYPTED IT IS A MUST!

    Hope you are lucky.

I have a slightly different issue. Mine runs recovery but on completion reboots and recovery is not correct.

Login and interface stays busy and unusable. All leds function as expected

Initially no devices, rooms or scenes from API. After a hard reboot devices are populated.

BEWARE anyone trying to recover from BETA!!! ....don't risk it until Fibaro can say why this happens. You may have a brick and an expensive and time consuming repair job.

I believe if you copy the backup files from your current USB to a safe location you can copy them back to the new units USB to save some time.

    Start recovery now :

    My procedure is this :

    - Turn off HC2 using the first button on the rear panel (wait until all led turn off)

    - Unplug power source

    - Press and hold the recovery button (idenitied by a plus inside a circle)

    - Plug the power into hc2

    - Wait that led start flash from left to right

    - In the same time that led start flash left to right, release the recovery button

    Hope this help

    Bye

Ho lo stesso problema..... Recovery impossibile.... Qualcuno mi aiuta in italiano? Grazie

    Ciao,

    Buona fortuna

    Hello,

as far as I rember, the first time that I do the recovery I've got same issue of ucciogenerale (and sokved in same way , trying and trying again) but i think that my problem was related to the procedure.

    - Turn off HC2 using the power button on the rear panel (wait until all led turn off)

    - Unplug power source

    - Press and hold the recovery button (identified by a plus inside a circle)

    - Plug the power into hc2

    - Wait that led start flash from left to right

    - In the same time that led start flash left to right, release the recovery button

Please respect the last point : it is very important

I don't know if it is relevent or not , but my system is setted up in DHCP ...... maybe someone can try to put it in DHCP before start recovery procedure.

    Good Luck

By the way : after restore to 3.600 i can see backup executed with 4.024 ..... anyone know if it is safe load this backup in 3.600 ? I've got 8 devices modified during beta program that I need to recreate ..... load a 4.024 backup can save me from exclude and reinclude all this devices !!!!

Seguite la procedura di Andrea è corretta.

La stessa cosa è capitata pure a me qualche tempo fa.

Hi, I confirm what the other Italian guys said before. My HC2 after a reboot was stuck with all all the leds on. The HC was not connected or with a different IP address it was like in a brick condition.

I tried many times simply to switch on and off removing the power cable.

I started to consider the possibility to send my HC in Poland, then desperately,

I tried to power on with the cable keeping the power on button pressed for a while (2 secs). and finally rebooted correctly.

There is always option to turn your controller back to reseller, you do not need to post it yourself.

j.nowacki, A simple automated off box backup + reset everything button then restore would solve the issues in a lot of cases though wouldn't it ? I'm in Australia, can't imagine posting back to the online retailer as we have no brick and mortar stores, and then waiting while they post back to Poland .. that will be the straw that breaks the camels back !

It's something even hyper protective apple let you do, I don't know why it is such a big issue for Fibaro, and amongst other things is one of the reasons I'm still looking around at other systems to be honest.

    Cheers,

    al.

I've just been informed by my reseller that since I purchased it in Oct-2012, its not covered by warranty. So I'd need proof that Fibaro are happy to exchange it, to provide to them.

Otherwise, I'm faced with an £80 shipping charge to Poland. Its not really a very attractive prospect to be a beta tester. (4.024 collapsed my z-wave engine, and nothing fibaro will re-add)

    Hi all

I had the same problem - all LEDs on, both with normal startup and with recovery mode - and no access to HC2. Turned out that problem was room temperature, around 5-6 degrees as it's a house where we don't normally live. As soon as I heated the box with a wood stove, it started up normally

    Hope it helps

    Riccardo
