Question

OK got a small request odd one i think but can it work?

I have a chest freezer which is connected to a power meter for consumption measurement only power switching is disabled local!

What i want to do is lets say for example the bulb inside is 10w...

if freezer is open but duty cycle is not running then add 10w (freezer has been opened)

if freezer is open but duty cycle is running example 80w then add 10w again (freezer has been opened)

BUT sometime the duty cycle varies 40-50-60w etc...

Any idea how to resolve this?

So push notification that the door has been opened based on power of bulb being measured!

So if current watts = watts + bulb then notify me that one of the kids has opened the door and to ensure it is shut again after!

i do not want a door sensor

Dean,

Not a matter of LUA expertise but maths. Sadly can't be solved 100%. If there was some form of pattern to how the load changes it may be possible to infer but values 50 and 60 are non determinant values without additional data.

If you don't like door sensors what about a temperature sensor?

Temp sensor might work if cabling is flat! I have a few fibaro ubs unused...

Look out for those fires in your freezer

Just yank out the varistor controlling the duty on the compressor

How about mounting something like the aeon power meter on the wire for the compressor itself? Then you can meassure the consumption of the compressor and the total consumption and thus look for your 10 watts.

It is probably cheaper though to just hook up a binary with a microswitch on the lid.
