Hi.

I write small LUA code in the browser but as the code gets more complex i find the browser GUI

a bit crippling and hard to get a perspective on what you have done.

I use ZeroBrane Studio and the IHC toolkit scrip editor, its good but not great.

Cant use error checking and so on so its always copy/paste between browser and application to test.

Is there a great software to use for this that includes the Fibaro part of the LUA language as well?

Suggestions?

What do you guys and girls use?

It is a pity zerobrane hasn't been ported to HC. I am coming across from Vera and about a year ago it was ported to Vera. The Zerobrane IDE still runs on a PC etc. but when running the code, it runs on Vera with full debugging. If this was made available on HC development would be a whole lot easier.

Maybe Fibaro should approach the zerobrane guys.

Did you already look at the HC2 Toolkit by Krikroff. It contains an Lua editor.

Thanks for the info Joost. Do you know if the editor can run code on Fibaro with debugging?

@cramer, I'd love to make ZBS work with Fibaro, but need an actual device to research if I can make it work. I checked couple of local resellers in US, but they list HC Lite as out of stock. I also emailed Fibaro to see what other options may work, but haven't heard anything back yet.

HC devices are expensive, but if someone is willing to donate an old/spare unit, I'll give back beta access and free licenses for you and a friend when I get this to work

I'm not sure what the differences are between US and Europe units (other than z-wave frequency), but if I'm only using the main unit, then the EU device may work too. Paul.

Total functionality would be fantastic, but as a start including the Fibaro part of the language would be more than enough!

For that you could use the developer site to get all the code and functions. I would be glad to help anyway I can to make that happen!

@speedy, I don't this is possible without running the code on the device. It may be possible to stub some of the functions so at least the script doesn't fail when you run it locally on a desktop, but you wouldn't be able to get access to the sensors or anything else on the box. Ideally, the code would need to run under the debugger on the device itself; this is how it's done for Vera debugging that @cramer mentioned. Paul.

    Hi Krikroff,

    Any update on that?

Getting fed up of using simple stubs and zerobrane.
