After recovery there's always a very time consuming task at hand for me. Changing icons for EVERY button in a virtual device. Is there an easier way to do that?

No.

I have raised a ticket because of this. It sucks to remove 100 icons, add 100 icons and change all your scenes accordingly because the numbers changed.

Icons are not included into backups and we do not plan to change it in a closest future, sorry.

Have you ever done this manually with many icons? I don't think so.
