What is the ultimate fresh install pathway ?

Question

Posted

So, please can anyone clarify, or share an experience .. if I want to destroy all, remove everything and start again as a fresh installation / clean the slate / on one of my boxes with about 80 devices ..

Should I be starting recovery, and add all my stuff at say 1.047 ? or 3.600 or should I get to 4.031 and then add all my stuff ? I hope I'm not going to regret it either way, but I really need to get this done now before I go away

What I did last weekend: did a install from scratch, ie did a recovery to 1.xx, run all the upgrades to 4.031 and from that firmware release added all the modules one by one again.

So when I came to release 4.031 the database was completely empty! The HC2 runs stable till now, but there are enough bugs to solve for Fibaro. So you need to make some workarounds.

The most important factor is the WAF. My wife is not complaining till now.

Are you still prepared to pour more and more time into it Alan ? Have you not had enough yet ? V4 was meant to be the stable release and has been anything but, not time to cut your losses ?

I had a stable system to begin with so I just upgraded from 4.024 directly to 4.030 then 4.031

No stability problems at all just the current bugs.

Heh, yeah I've had enough, but I've given myself till March to see where they are heading. I'd like to take out any of 'my factor' and the basics are sound and working. The shack has been perfect on 3.600, the house I have the opportunity to give one last shot.. if it doesn't work wonderfully by March I'm out, but I can't find an alternative other then HS3 ( which I already have ) that really appeals to me. It's more the time and effort to get HS3 perfect that I can't be bothered VS the investment in HC2 that is working, just not working as I want it..

You may get better support with other systems, and things just work etc, but, there are some show stoppers at this stage in every system IMHO.

william.abbo, Thanks yeah, I think I'll follow the same path, then I'm on exactly what I need to be pending the next update release..

MrMxyzptlk, That is how I started prior to reverting to 4.024/4.031 B .. I found my system was unresponsive though, and then I got a dreadful amount of 403/503 pages, so after I dropped back to 4.024 backup it is back to functional..

It's preparing for the next update that I want to achieve, so a clean slate may be the go.

    Cheers,

    al.
