Question

Posted

Hi,

I have just purchased a foscam FI8918W. I selected the model from a thread on this forum which listed the model numbers of foscam that work with HC2.

But my camera doesnt show any picture or video. Its just a blank and black screen.

If I tick to display the camera image on the main page, then it does show a picture or a snapshot. But then it doesnt change or move.

If anyone has had similar experiences or knows how to get it working; please help.

any help or comments are much appreciated.

thank you.

hansraj3735, Hi there, have you set the camera up with username and password ??

if so, select IPCam .. update the IP address .. fill in the user and password for the camera, then add ;

snapshot path : snapshot.cgi?user=user&pwd=password

& change the following user and password ( to the camera user and password ) to suit ( thanks to Rantta ! ) ;

Please login or register to see this code.

I think I changed 4 & 6 around to equal Left & Right too !

Cheers,

al.

I think you should be able to bang in the jpeg path into a browser with the ip prefix and it should display, that will remove a dud setting on the camera.

the rest of mine as per pics :

    also yes same model.

    Cheers,

alandee, I tried to get the mjpg path by typing in the ip address in browser...no luck!!

I can view the rtsp but thats by Foscam but not through fibaro.

also, can you please send me the stop command you have.

Do you think changing the Camera model option makes any difference?

Hi mate, I don't have a stop command. Just the tick box.

Can you get to the JPEG path ? That's the key!

Camera model should be IPCam not foscam..

It should work I think I have latest firmware. And the commands work for me.

Perhaps delete device and start again copy exactly what I have see if you can get it going from there.

    [edit]

    Try ;

Please login or register to see this code.

Obviously replacing youip with your local ip and username with the username you have setup for your camera and password according to the account

If you can't get that working then there's something amiss in camera setup.

When that works and if you have copied my settings then fibaro will work

I just deleted mine and copied all settings back in.. Works a treat.

    Cheers,al.

    Hi.

I had to make the following changes:

    JPG path :

Please login or register to see this link.

    MJPG stream path :

Please login or register to see this link.

The IP address is your cam's IP and the :88 is the port. The default was 88. Also. For the user name change that to your user name used to access the cams and the same with password.

    Hope that helps.

Things are all working for me now but only in chrome...i think my i.e. is outdated...will update it and find out...but at least for now they do work in chrome for me.

The commands that worked for me are:

    JPG PATH: snapshot.cgi?user=*******&pwd=******

    MJPG PATH: videostream.cgi?user=******&pwd=******

    TURN LEFT : decoder_control.cgi?command=6&user=*****&pwd=*****

    TURN RIGHT: decoder_control.cgi?command=4&user=******&pwd=******

    MOVE UP :decoder_control.cgi?command=0&user=****&pwd=******

    MOVE DOWN: decoder_control.cgi?command=2&user=*****&pwd=*****

    STOP CAMERA MOVEMENT : decoder_control.cgi?command=5&user=*****&pwd=******

Anyone wanting to use these will jus have to put their camera log in username and password in these commands.

Thanks everyone for taking your time out and helping me.

Please please please has anyone got some plain simple but full advice on exactly what settings work for a foscam FI9821W

Yes I've seen all the other threads and tried numerous different advised settings none of which give me an image or any motion control.

Fibaro home centre lite   camera setting & advanced settings:

IP camera model?   Foscam or IP cam (as some suggest)

Username and password shouldnt be a problem.

IP Address (including port if needed):                    Just the ip or the ip and port or anything extra ????

Jpg path:             ?  tried all the suggestions

none work although the one I have tried is:

Please login or register to see this link.

this when pasted into the browser address bar does show an image.

I am using Opera, but have tried IE which wont even let me log into Fibaro, and tried Chrome - no difference

    For Mjpg stream path:

Please login or register to see this link.

    For moving:

    decoder_control.cgi?command=(various numbers!)&user=*********&pwd=*********

    The camera has latest Firmware.

Any help would be much appreciated.

OK an update on a small amount of progress.

Please note that I know nothing of such technical things and am only telling you what I did, not what should be done!

I have found that by setting the camera model to foscam   (I have not tried any others yet with these settings)

leave the username and password boxes blank

leave the IP address box blank.

Then in the Mjpeg streaming box put the following:

    camera ip address:port/cgi-bin/CGIStream.cgi?cmd=GetMJStream&usr=xxxxxxx&pwd=xxxxxx

substitute camera ip address for your ip address of your camera i.e 192.168.1.9

and the port for the http port for the camera which you can find in the settings if you dig around enough.

then the camera username and password in place of my  xxxxxxx's

This I have found will actually display the video......hurrah!

    Nothing else works though!

I discovered this by rightclicking on the video display boc and selecting inspect element,   for the lines of code corresponding to getting the video it was previously seeming to duplicate the username password and ip address in an odd order, I guess it got these from where I had previously filled in the separate boxes for these.

I expect theres a better way but until someone out there who has got these foscams working comes across this thread and wishes to contribute, I'll be no wiser.

But will post here if I do work it out.

    Further progress!

    Ignore all of the above.

I have it working better now.

By putting 'other model'  as camera model

inserting the username and password in the boxes

Ip address and port in the relevant box.

    Then for jpeg:

    cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture2&usr=xxxxxxxx&pwd=xxxxxxxx

    and for Mjpeg:

    cgi-bin/CGIStream.cgi?cmd=GetMJStream&usr=xxxxxxxxx&pwd=xxxxxxxxx

With the above It seems clicking the camera sends a snapshot to my email.

and the video/Mjpeg stream does show where it is supposed to.

Still no abiity to pan and tilt.

All working now. Thanks to Arron (Fibaro UK support)

    jpeg  -                cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture2&usr=xxxxxxx&pwd=xxxxxxxx
    Mjpeg  -             cgi-bin/CGIStream.cgi?cmd=GetMJStream&usr=xxxxxxxx&pwd=xxxxxxxx
    Movement   -     /cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=ptzMoveUp&usr=xxxxxxxx&pwd=xxxxxxx

Basically using the above substituting MoveUp with MoveDown, MoveLeft, MoveRight, StopRun for the relevant command
This works fine for the foscam F19821 V2   in the Home Centre Lite Camera settings
