Soft Reconfigure Device

Question

Posted

Can you please explain what this does as not 100% sure. Also how long should this take?

Wording from advanced configuration page:

The device performs a soft reconfiguration of the Z-Wave network. The parameters and settings (name, assign it to the room, associations) are preserved. ID also remain unchanged, making scenes with reconfigurable device will not require editing.

I had a problem with one of my FGP111 Plug's constantly being dead so thought this might help.

After doing the soft reconfigure the device is still listed, but says "NOT_CONFIGURED" on the device page. Switching on or off does nothing.

There is also another icon in the devices called Main_Zwave_Device also listed as "NOT_CONFIGURED". If I go to the advanced settings of this it lists it as the same as the wall plug.

I did the soft reconfigure over 11 hours ago.

Cheers,

John

The Z-wave box represents the master of a device. Since V4 every device has a master and several slaves. Since the master is not useful to the user , it's normally hidden from the home or device view. The slaves are what you work with. What reconfigure does is forget about the slaves and try to detect from the master what kind of device it is. Usually it takes seconds. The longest I have seen is a UBS + temperature probe: between 20-30 seconds. Now you haven't seen any communication since several hours... Try to unplug and plug in again. If you see nothing in the status window at the top (it should show green text containing "device configured") and still have an unconfigured device, then I'd go for the exclude (+ delete leftovers on HC2) / include route

    Thanks for the response.

Unfortunately not at home until weekend, weather permitting, so cant do that.

I did think it bizarre that the device was dead as usually it works fine. The wake up dead nodes doesn't appear to work as well in v4.031 than v3.600. In v3.600 it would go through all devices and confirm with a message saying transfer OK or something, but now in v4.031 it doesn't give any messages per device and any dead devices are just changed to non dead. (I did confirm this with waking up dead nodes in living room where the HC2 is and no messages)

Bit of a bummer as I am down approx. 500K PPD on folding at home with that computer off.
