I have an RGBW module with a led strip behind a regular switch. From time to time when i switch off the regular switch and switch back on, the RGBW led does not start. I then need to go to fibaro gui and change any of the parameters a bit (slider, on , off or whatever) for it to work. Is this normal?

I have the same problem, it's possible to just turn on/off RBGW with just a Toggle Switch?

Currently I can only turn it on/off by using Web/Phone GUID and that not funny.

Wife/Kids don't really understand why the switch just simply doesn't work and we need to touch a remote to control things

If you have a Fibaro dimmer you could attach a switch to that and associate that with the RGBW. I think that will work but not 100% sure

Not on all V4.X But right now I'm using it with 4.032.

It does however have added value... The "wife acceptance factor" is very good. The first button uses a scene to cycle through different RGBW setups (off, dim, bright, cool, warm, ...). The remote is on the table and as a plus it controls a dimmer in the same room and lights in another room. I think it's not a fix, but a great workaround

I haven't tried association, but a fib dimmer can do sceneactivation. Like the minimote. That's what I am using right now on my dimmers to control the same RGBW with the same cycle of presets.

I have a question regarding the original question... Yeah, answering a question with another question is... The RGBW module is powered (versus battery operated), so it actively participates in the mesh routing. So what is the effect of powering off this node on your network? In any case, it will become a dead node if you try to control it. Sorry, can't test this because my house is too small to test mesh routing

yeah if you power it off it becomes dead you are correct.

How would dimmer association help me? I cannot get my head around this concept

I have never considered association for an RGBW, but I do use it for relays. I think it is too limited to control a RGBW (if it works at all). I use "sceneActivation". But correct me when I am wrong, I am always happy to learn something new!

just one more question on this (and yes I am leaning towards Minimote) - the switch that turns the RGBW and led strip power brick will have 2x1,5 fibaro relay (as the second relay will control another lamp) - can i make one of the 1,5 relays not react to physical position of the bistable switch? in other words so that one is always on, regardless if kids play with a physical switch

If you have a dimmer or switch, you can use the S2 input on it. This will change the sceneActivation for that dimmer. Then you just create a scene which switches the RGBW on/off whenever the sceneActivation changes. That way you don't have to turn off the dimmer but can still control it. But that does ofcourse require that you an unused switch somewhere.

The Fibaro Wall Plug has this capability (to use it as a power monitoring device), but the double relay doesn't have it. Would it be difficult to remove the wire between the module and the switch? If that is an option, by default the relay remembers its status even at power loss (parameter 16) so if you switch it on via web interface it will stay on. The relay part and the input part cannot be separated, and that's a bonus when you want it to always work without HC2. But like you I have a few times wished for this kind of separation. For example, the switch could activate a scene, and the scene could control the relay. Or "nothing" in your case...

ok so i got minimote. But i cannot add it to 4.032 somehow. I have read the manual and all....

EDIT: OK actually the manual is wrong, it should say press learn. But now I included but.... no scene activation - how do i make it work?

EDIT2: got sceneactivation working after 10 tries

Out of curiosity: how would you rate this workaround with minimote? How is the WAF?
