backup to another HC2

Question

Posted

I have make a copy of a part of the recovery stick, because HC2 didn't start up after the mains go off in my place. After this happened, HC2's recovery stick was corrupt and fibaro support can not fix it from remote. They said it is at hardware malfunction. So i have to send it back to Poland. On the 2Gb part of the recovery stick in the map Backups, there i find all my backups.

Has someone experience wit placing a backup from one HC2 to another. Support of Fibaro said there isn't a possibility to do so. Because i don't want to do the whole configuration on my HC2 again, first on the one a borrow from my company and later when the broken one is back, again.

I hope someone can help me!

Already thanks for helping!!

Am i right, when i say that i 'm not the only one with this problem?

I have searched on this forum and find nothing about this.

I don't want to try this by myself on the one i borrow, i don't want to brick another one.

The broken HC2 is still working, i change the boot sequence in the bios of the main board and it is working. I can not make any new backups, because the recovery stick is broken. I only have to fix the recovery stick, but there is not a backup or image for the stick.

    Hi

i have without any problem both copied the backup folder to a new hc2 and replaced an old hc2 and even made a clone to a SanDisk usb memory so i have a fresh backup if my usb broke again. I have been trough the broken memory and send hc2 back to Poland once so for next time I'll be prepared so i can be up and running fast.

Thank you, Andyman, for your info.

So i can copy the backups from the broken one to the borrowed one?

After that i can go to the right firmware and replace the backup from the other one without problems?

Do you know where i can find the old firmware 3.60 for the new one? My last backup is from 3.590.

Thank you very much for your help

I didn't think that was possible, the recovery stick was hardware bound to the HC2?

Your new one might not have a newer version than that anyway unless production run of 4.x has started.

It is but the backup files are not.

Yes, when my first hc2 died with broken usb (image file for recovery broken) and the Support said that i need to send it back i made a copy of the backup to a new usb from a new hc2.

The USB contains besides your personal backups an image of hc2 firmware for recovery. The version of the image depends of the age of hc2. On my old 1.038 and on the new one 3.548.

You need to do recovery so you are at the same family 1.xxx 3.xxx etc for both hc2 and backup. In my case i have backup from 3.590 that I load in 3.600 because you can't load other than 3.600 from fibaro. After that can you go to 4.xxx.

Thank you very much for your answer.

I understand and will try on my HC2.

I let you know how its going.

Again thank you for your help.

From Fibaro they are working on something, so we can use the backup in a normal way.

I try to recover the new HC2 to version 3.600, but i don't have the possibility to change from 1.047 to 3.600.

The next version is 4.032 and not 3.600, have they change the update order and is it not possible any more to go to 3.600? I see my backup on the list on HC2 so i must go to 3.600 to have my configuration back and don't have to do all the work again.

I hope some one can help me.

    Thanks Peter

I think it will install 3.600 before 4.032 even that it doesn't show it. Mine did that.

I will see if mine will do the same, very strange update service from fibaro.

I just try and find out that HC2 update to 3.600 without saying so.

Thank you, i can try to replace my backup.

I have my configuration back, on the new one and it is working fine.

I have an alarm system from Satel, integra64, this is integrated in my fibaro and used for some scenes.

It is not working anymore in version 4.0xx, they are still working on it. So i can not use version 4.0xx at this moment.

I am very pleased with my HC2 V3.600.

I thank you very much for your help.
