Polling device on secondary controller

Question

Posted

I have an alarm system (Comfort) that can interact with Zwave. It sets up as a secondary controller. So the alarm can turn on zwave lights and via zwave I can set the alarm etc. If I setup a "virtual node" on the secondary controller I can use it as a switch to get the alarm to do other things - e.g. the alarm can also talk X10 so from HC2 I can turn on X10 lights.

What I really want is for the alarm to tell me when the alarm state changes (from home to away etc) or when a PIR triggers (so I can get HC2 to turn on lights).

I've created a "Virtual Node" on the secondary controller and I can set it's state when an alarm PIR is triggered. These Virtual Nodes think they are a dimmer so they can be set but they don't communicate their state. I can't get HC2 to poll the virtual node to see if it has changed. It won't let me modify the poll interval from 0.

Attached is the virtual node screen shot.

I'm not sure where to look. Any help would be very grateful.

Can anyone give me any pointers as to why HC2 won't poll this device?

Thanks

Ewen...  did you get anywhere with this ?  I have a similar need.

I have a number of 'things' that I want to advise HC2 of - ideally via Z-Wave as plugins are currently disabled on HC2.  I can already set Comfort states/counters to reflect these and I have a Comfort Z-Wave UCM v3 that I haven't yet wired it up.  I had assumed that  a 'virtual Z-Wave' node would  realtime report status changes to HC2. From what you're saying this doesn't happen.

/emoticons/default_icon_sad.gif" alt=":-(" />   I hadn't wanted to have to use a poll setup but from what you're saying that isn't working either.  So it looks like I've gone down a blind alley on this one, unless you've found out anything different ?
